Eric Holder abruptly cancels speech amid angry protest

Attorney General Eric Holder cancelled plans to address a class of police academy graduates in Oklahoma City on Thursday after hundreds of state lawmakers, police officers and conservative activists planned a protest.

Before the cancellation, demonstrators requested that officers attending the ceremony place the attorney general in handcuffs, according to Oklahoma News9.com.

“Eric Holder is in contempt of Congress right now,” said conservative protest organizer Bob Dani, citing the “Fast and Furious” and IRS scandals.

Holder never made it to the show. Justice Department spokesman Brian Fallon said Thursday that an early-morning meeting would have made Holder too late to deliver the address. Instead, a U.S. District Court judge spoke to the group, according to The Washington Times.

“The attorney general had been looking forward to addressing the cadets, and regrets he cannot attend in person,” Fallon said. “He extends his heartfelt congratulations to the cadets and their families.”

The Justice Department denied that the cancellation had anything to do with the protest. The demonstrators weren’t so sure.

“Our protest has turned into a victory celebration because we frankly didn’t want him here — and we succeeded,” Republican Oklahoma Rep. Paul Wesselhoft said in an interview, according to The Times. “This man has used his position to advance his own political agenda, and that’s not right. He swore to uphold the U.S. Constitution and defend it for all of us — not some of us.”

Wesselhoft said he believes Holder should be impeached.

“He’s not coming because he’s a chicken,” activist Carla Russell told the Red Dirt Report, a local news website, according to The Times. “And he doesn’t want to be recorded with people protesting against him with signs like mine.”

Russell carried a sign saying, “Holder is a Terrorist.”

In 2009, Holder famously said that Americans “have always been, and we, I believe, continue to be, in too many ways, essentially a nation of cowards.” He doubled down on the statement in interview with the University of Virginia’s Miller Center in January. Maybe he was speaking about himself?

“[A] nation of cowards”, says the guy that refuses to take action against people that have broken the law…

    • http://grumpyelder.com/ Grumpy

Depending on their race, political beliefs and financial contributions to Holder’s favorite liberal organizations

  • Cheryl Lynn

Oh well. Oklahoma is nothing but a bunch of cowardly closet racists anyway (YES that was sarcasm)

    • Myrtle Linder

They are brave enough to stand up for what they believe and not be afraid to protest to an antichrist, anti-American speaking to them. I admire their courage at this stand for what is right. The cowards would have gone along with him. Christians will continue to stand against antichrist activities.

      • Doug

AntiChrist again. Myrt you’re getting typecast.

        • psychosally

its ok myrtle we all agree with ya

          • Doug

The AntiChrists disagree with her. Right Myrt.

          • RobertNorwood

Any time you’d like to meet an AntiChrist visit the White House.

        • Lucktoday

OK with me too Myrtle. Holder is anti anything that on the right side of our nation. They all want to weaken us.

          • Doug

I would just like Myrt to for once say something different.

          • Blaser270

Who cares what you think? Definitely not the majority here. Go hang around on huffy post. They’ll love you.

          • Cheryl Lynn

I have been banned from Huffpo. (pride)

          • RobertNorwood

That POS is a waste of time. Trying to converse among liberals is not only a tryingly impossible experience but quite bizarre. Try and imagine the experience of a Jew or any anti Nazi in 1938 and you have some idea.

          • RobertNorwood

I’d like a turkey club with extra mayo.

        • LittleRoot_48

Sorry, we just call it as we see it.

        • RobertNorwood

By you maybe. Mulder, is a pattern emerging?

      • SusieQ

Good for you Myrtle for standing up for what you believe in.

      • popularusaguy

        Mrytle,
I agree with you. Judging from Holder’s age, perhaps he is a nephew of Obama and not a son.
        lol:)

      • fuzzi

And if Oklahoma has an outbreak of tornadoes, I anticipate FEMA assistance and Federal disaster funds being withheld, to punish the state for their anti-Holder actions.

      • pemaddin

Maybe they are that brave but that doesn’t explain why a giant statute of Satan is being installed at the state capital.

      • RAMAN SHANKER

Antichrist ? We are not a Christian Theocracy for crying out loud. LOL

    • David Tierney

You had me worried for a second.

    • Lc Goodfellow

If you ask me, THIS IS SICK! (If you don’t ask me, it’s still SICK!)

      • Cindy Kay

You’re really good at one-liner put downs. Only paid trolls visit websites they so heartily disagree with. I’m a proud Okie and glad we scared that lawless coward off.

    • teatime

I think they are the salt of the earth! Best people of the nation! I’m from CA, left Okla at age 10! .

      • Cheryl Lynn

Agree. I have never met someone from OK that I did not love. Great people. Pretty obvious Obama is not from OK.

    • RobertNorwood

Excellent. As I like to say by adding a new twist to the old axiom about patriotism being the last refuge of the scoundrel; “Racism is the first refuge of the Liar”.

      • Cindy Kay

The two most racist people in government today are the POTUS and the USAG. The two biggest liars in government today are the POTUS and USAG. I’m a proud Okie, Sooner born and bred.

  • Mike

Holder is welcome to come to my home any time and one on one we will determine who is a coward.

  • susandanielspi

Hah. First they didn’t want Michelle and now they don’t want this weasel. Ah, the worm turns.

  • http://yahoo.com/ DustyFae

Holder needs to go to Jail..He has broken his oath, broken laws, pick and choose laws and even behind the IRS targeting people… He is a war monger and a racist.. The biggest racist baiter ,just like Obama and Sharpton and Jackson, he even thinks he can by pass congress. This man really needs to be hung for Treason…

    • disqus_D87XRi0Gy7

      My thoughts completely

    • teatime

I second & third that motion!Eric Holder& Obama are both bastards!

    • RobertNorwood

Nothing will happen as long as the criminals who use the the stupidity left liberals are in power. But one day, one day the calls will be heeded it will be possible to have him investigated and he can spend his time, right into retirement, in court. Any time you commit a crime it has an entire life time to come back and haunt you.

  • disqus_D87XRi0Gy7

Put that felon in prison where he belongs, he can give his little speech to the rest of the inmates

    • fideux

      “His people”?

  • Kenneth Clark

Why would anyone want a criminal speaking to graduating police cadets. Could he possibly give any meaningful advice other than… ” I do as I please, screw your laws and oh yeah you can’t touch me”.

    • Doug

What’s going on with Oklahoma. They promised to secede from the U.S. and yet they’re still in. I’m losing faith in some of the Far Right promises.

      • Kenneth Clark

You got me thinking about pie now. Don’t go messing with my thought pattern…

        • Doug

You’re right let’s go back to pie.

          • Kenneth Clark

That’s something no one in the government needs to discover or it will get screwed up.

      • psychosally

doug-Im assuming by your stupid remarks that youre a libtard

        • Doug

Please. I prefer troll. Both are terribly hurtful but I can suffer through. At least troll is a real word.

          • curmudgeon

The correct term is retarded liberal. You appear to fit the description.

      • babbott

When did Oklahoma “promise” to secede from the U.S.? Come on over to Oklahoma and we’ll discuss it.

        • Doug

About a year ago I got dozens of e-mails from right-wing buddies about how Oklahoma was going to secede. Of course, it’s ridiculous but so are most of the missives I get from them.

          • curmudgeon

Funny trying to visualize your having right wing buddies. You would have nothing to discuss with them face to face.

          • LittleRoot_48

I’m sure your “right wing buddies” feel pretty much the same about the “missives” you send them.

          • babote

OK, Doug, you got dozens of e-mails, out of how many living in that state? And who are they? You sound just like your idol, Pelosi.

          • babbott

Are you sure your “right-wing buddies” even live in Oklahoma? If they are “right-wing” maybe they are just playing mind games with you since all “right-wingers” know it is so easy to mess with a liberal’s mind and have him babbling to himself.

      • HCUA

Alec Baldwin promised to leave if Bush got re-elected, and he is still here, so, quit with the liberal crap.

        • Breezeyguy

It’s a fair comparison HCUA, except that libtards believe in lying and have no character, whereas conservatives believe lying is an evil and they have character. So you can’t really compare a libtard and a conservative. Sean Hannity promised to leave NY, and he should either retract and apologize or leave (maybe to Oklahoma!).

          • bill

Breeze.. Sean is under contract for another year…. He stated that at the end of contract….

          • Doug

We’re expecting him in Florida any day.

          • babote

The best thing that will happen there.

          • teatime

He said in 4 years,he has a commitment!.

          • Breezeyguy

His contract requires him to be in NY?

I usually like Sean, but he goes soft when the issues get tough. For example, he was soft on homo issues with Schwarzenegger. And now CA is really screwed: no valid elections, and no Republicans.

          • LittleRoot_48

He says he will eventually leave NY and I believe him. If Rush could rid himself of that cess pool, so can Sean.

        • Doug

          He’s a bluffing bluffer.

  • Ranchman

I’m happy to see my state of Oklahoma responding the way it should. Eric Holder is more than just a criminal. He’s helping to drive Nobama’s Marxist ideology, both should be arrested, convicted,, and held for execution for their treason and sedition. We know the truth here in Oklahoma, we’re not blind like the Liberals back east.

    • Doug

Secession should be right around the corner then?

      • Richard McGrath

If it was you would complain about it

        • BlueMax372

          Naw, he’d whine about it!

          • babote

Nah. He would throw a temper tantrum, and blame Bush.

      • bill

Do trolls have more than one line?

        • Doug

I’m retired. I have no lines.

          • capers2

We really need a sarcasm font…

  • Shawn Herman-Gibson

America hasn’t always been a nation of cowards, but as a majority, it is now. So sadly, he was partly right. This, right now, is a nation of morons.

    • rwp24382

I don’t know about the nation of cowards, as much as, a political party trying its best to take over the country. They have stacked the government agencies with liberals and have developed a cushion for law breaking by having total control of law enforcement and executive branches of government. If one branch the Dems are using to attack their political opponents is getting in trouble, they have the protection of the DOJ and WH for anything they do.

      • Sunshine Kid

And we need to break that monopoly.

    • LittleRoot_48

      It has become an Idiocracy!

  • David Kachel

Come on down to Texas, Holder. We’d just loooooove to have you!!
Shall we meet in Dallas? We’ll give you a nice motorcade.

    • Doug

Wait a minute now you’re talking like a Kansan.

    • teatime

He will not do that, he is afraid of flying bullets!

      • Richard McGrath

Is that why Holder wont go to Chicago?
