Biden’s gaffe to Boston bombing survivors: ‘It was worth it’

Vice President Joe Biden spoke at a memorial service marking the one-year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing Tuesday, making an apparent gaffe that sent Twitter buzzing.

“Let me say to those quote ‘survivors’ [who spoke previously]: My God you have survived, and you have soared,” he said, according to The Wire. “It was worth it, I mean it sincerely, just to hear you speak. You are truly, truly inspiring. I have never heard anything so beautiful.”

The audience applauded, but the “it was worth it” line, drew national attention.
