Parents and students have been complaining about the Common Core curriculum for some time, but now even Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert has joined in mocking the math problems.
“As much as I didn’t expect it, I may be coming around to the Common Core,” Colbert said on his show earlier this week. “Because it turns out that Common Core testing prepares our students for what they will face as adults, pointless stress and confusion.”
Using examples to demonstrate how confusing the math can be, he included one from a California second-grader who gave a practical answer to an unusual question.
