Senator says administration ‘cooking the books’ on Obamacare numbers, there is no fix

barrassoWith the March 31 deadline to sign up for Obamacare upon us, “Fox News Sunday” took a close look at the numbers, prompting U.S. Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., to say the Obama administration is “cooking the books.”

The White House announced late last week that more than 6 million people have now enrolled in Obamacare, bringing the total to just a million shy of the established goal of 7 million. A feat that looked highly unlikely one month ago.

“I don’t think it means anything,” a skeptical Barrasso told host Chris Wallace. “They are cooking the books on this.”

“People want the answers to this,” he continued. “They also want to know, once all this is said and done, what kind of insurance will people actually have. Will they be able to keep their doctor? What will it actually cost them?”

U.S. Sen. Angus King (I-Maine), who caucuses with the Democratic Party, agreed that there’s a transparency problem and said he was open to fixing these problems.

“I’ve looked at this 10 different ways,” Barrasso countered. “This health care law is unfixable.”

King also took umbrage with the term “Obamacare.”

“There’s no such thing as Obamacare,” King said. “You can’t sign up for Obamacare. You sign up for an Anthem policy, or an Aetna policy, or a Welthorn policy. It’s private insurance.”
