CNN finally gets face-to-face showdown with Ted Nugent; he’s armed and ready

Conservative rocker Ted Nugent went a few rounds with CNN’s Erin Burnett Monday, taking credit for the demise of Piers Morgan’s show and bickering over his apology for calling President Obama a “sub-human mongrel.”

Armed with proof that Obama used the controversial term “mongrel” himself on national TV, outspoken Nugent was prepared to stand his ground for the entire segment.

Burnett asked Nugent whether the apology was sincere, then read the word “mongrel” as it’s used in an Aryan Nations membership form.

You learn something new every day, Nugent said of Burnett’s information.

“For anyone to claim that I’m a racist or it had racist overtones is the typical crap that the propaganda ministry and the media — particularly most of your co-workers there, even though I got Piers Morgan’s ass thrown out, and I’ll do the same with Don Lemon and Wolf Blitzer when I can,” he said.

Burnett quickly defended the CNN hosts.

“Do me a favor, don’t talk about my colleagues that way,” she said. “I respect them both greatly.”

After a discussion about the names Nugent had called Hillary Clinton, the rocker said he would try to stop the name-calling.

“Whether it’s my wonderful wife, my brother, Jeff, and John or Kathy, my great kids, or someone like you, Erin, and people around me, they think I’ll be more effective if I back off that Detroit street fighter rock ‘n’ roll stage rhetoric,” he said.

The rocker’s brother, former Neutrogena and Revlon CEO Jeff Nugent, appeared with Burnett Tuesday saying Ted needed to tone down his language.

“It’s a conversation we’ve been having for longer than you can imagine,” Jeff Nugent said. “And I think Ted referred to that last night because my advice to him over the years has been, ‘Please tone it down.’ And there’s a line that you shouldn’t cross. And his latest comments about President Obama and Hillary Clinton have crossed the line.”
