Smack-down: CNN’s Jake Tapper finds out the hard way not to insult ‘Lone Survivor’ Marcus Luttrell

marcus_lutrell

CNN’s Jake Tapper found out the hard way that former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell is not someone you want to insult.

Luttrell is making the media rounds promoting the movie based on his book, “Lone Survivor,” his personal account of a mission gone horribly awry in the mountains of Afghanistan. He sat down Friday with Tapper and took offense to comments the CNN host made about the ordeal being “senseless.”

“One of the emotions I felt while watching was, first of all, the hopelessness of the situation, how horrific it was,” Tapper said in starting off the interview. “And I was torn about the message of the film in the same way that I think I am about the war in Afghanistan itself. I don’t want any more senseless American death.”

The only survivor of a four-man reconnaissance team that was ambushed by Taliban fighters, Luttrell responded like a man with fierce loyalty to his fallen comrades.

“I don’t know what part of the film you were watching, but hopelessness never really came into it,” Luttrell replied. “Where did you see that? We never felt like we were hopelessly lost or anything like that. We never gave up. We never felt like we were losing until we were actually dead.”

Tapper tried to explain, but he was clearly out of his league.

“It seemed senseless,” the CNN host responded. “I don’t mean to disrespect in any way, but it seemed senseless — all of these wonderful people who were killed for an op that went wrong.”

Irritated, Luttrell gave Tapper a little education on military combat.

“We spend our whole lives training to defending this country, and then we were sent over there by this country,” Luttrell said. “So you’re telling me because we were over there doing what we were told by our country, that it was senseless? And my guys, what? They died for nothing?”

Backtracking, Tapper said, “No.”

“That’s what you said,” Luttrell fired back. “So, let me just say, it went bad for us over there, but that was our job. That’s what we did. We didn’t complain about it.”

Tim, there’s a lot of ‘smack downs’ in your articles today. Not very creative headline writing.

    • J. Brown

The MSM needs more smack downs. Youngsters who have never been anywhere nor done anything, but they are able to explain events to those of us who have participated.

      • deTocqueville1

Excellent response. I normally like Tapper but not only is he insensitive here he is clearly miscomprehending military service.

        • Scamp1

Civilian imput is exactly that, with emphasis on “Civilian”. CNN as usual at the forefront of ineptness.

          • kktex12

            No. Stupidity and treason.

        • one_eye

Tapper didn’t ‘miscomprehend’ anything. This was a deliberate strategy to move the discussion into an anti-war direction in hopes that Luttrell would follow. The Turner/Fonda doctrine at work.

          • princesssong

Well I hate to burst Tapper’s little tiny bubble, but THAT ain’t gonna happen with a Seal,or Special Forces, or any of the other groups that fight/and have fought so bravely.. !!

          • daveveselenak

            AMEN!

          • PaC SGM (R)

            Agree 100% typical liberal slant.

          • Tish

You are spot on ! very perceptive. I should have realized, the intentions of CNN are never noble, only nefarious

          • curmudgeon

            Nailed!

        • brkdrvr

          Shocked one “Tapper” likes another.

        • Winghunter

He’s a stone ignorant Useful Idiot who knowingly serves as a propaganda arm of the Democrat party.

          • curmudgeon

They all are. Not one patriotic bone in any talking head on ABC, c B.S., CNN, PBS, NBC or the extreme leftist MSNBC. All are propagandists for the liberal democRAT party. It wouldn’t be so bad if they would just admit they are the media wing for the DNC instead of masquerading as true reporters of factual ‘news’!

          • JHorvathJr

CNN is changing their name to DNC to clarify where their “news” comes from.

          • curmudgeon

At least there would be a bit of truth in advertising.

      • medivac

You got that right !! What we need is some really good ‘nad kicking that would make the gonads look like some really bad cases of mumps !! Marcus aimed in the right direction and Mark has gained a lot of respect with his attitude towards the military. Tapper is typical of the liberal media !!

      • kktex12

stabber is lucky. had it been me I would have reached across and snapped the pos neck. He is anti-American and anti-military. I would not want him with me in a foxhole, but in front of me so I my back would be safe.

        • klsparrow

Yoy are correct. If this man was in a fax hole with you the first thing you would need to do is shoot him. That way you know the enemy is..In Blackhawk two special ops snipers ask to go into help. Their comander ask them twice if they understand what they were ask to to and both time they said yes. The meaning of the question was you are asking to go and die. They went and they died but so did a lot of bad guys. Polititions and peole like Trapper do not understand the devotion these guys have to each other.

          • Blaser270

Maybe we’ll live long enough to see those folks sent into DC to clean up? They’d get standing ovations for the rest of their life…

          • klsparrow

I would love that. At 70 and a bad heart the chances of me ever seeing that are slim.I guess i can still hope.

Elise is Media matters paid poster of the morning.Honey,do you get double time or time and a half on Saturdays for denigrating America???

      • J. C. Smith

        Kinda looks that way.

      • bjreg3

If so, they are certainly scraping the bottom of the barrel for her. What a buffoon.

        • RIDGERUNNER29

Remember,Democrats had to invent Affirmative Action so they could get their voters into college.Republicans still use SAT and ACT scores to fairly compete for college admission.

          • brkdrvr

You may be onto something but lets call it what it really is 13th 14th 15th & 16th grade. followed buy discounted buy it on the internet MS (more $h1t) & PhD (piled higher & deeper). If you doubt it go to any public school district office, there are more advanced degrees than you can imagine and usually not one person with even a grain of common sense (hence children expelled for gun shaped pop-tarts and pointing finger guns. I’ve had more than one conversation with a school district official holding a Ed PhD where the word “ax” was used in the context of “asking” a question, you would expect this from a redneck or sharecropper but a DR.?.

          • OldLineTexan

I don’t know, THIS redneck holds an mechanical engineering BS from a top university (wasn’t 13-16th grade) and an MS in aerospace engineering AND knows the word is “let’s”. So apparently MY public schools worked.

          • brkdrvr

Sorry, Typing faster than qualified for and depending on auto correct. BTW born in Anderson SC and raised in Vicksburg, MS. also attended public school and hold a BS & MS (25 yrs ago). Compared to my parents BS from the 1950′s my daughters BA was pretty weak. I have 4 daughters from 8 to 23 and am continually amazed at those working in the education system today. Don’t consider myself a redneck but know plenty, many are smart & successful and many toothless and dumb as a stump. My point was 35 years ago most holders of MS & PhD’s were well spoken and intelligent regardless or their origin.

          • Eric Goodman

I couldn’t agree more. I’ve returned to a university to obtain an MA (doing it because I like it). I also recently taught at a state college for 2 years. Can’t speak for all
schools, but many of the students I have encountered are not at the same level
as when I originally attended college in the 80′s. At the college I worked at, I instructed students in basic math, starting with a number line and how to add and subtract! No way could you have been admitted into higher education 30 years ago if you had not known how to do basic math w/o a calculator!

          • curmudgeon

Think about it. When were educators given the ‘right’ to organize into labor unions. I think you will find a direct correlation to labor organizing and the downslide of education. We now have many administrators and indoctrinators, but very few educators.

          • Eric Goodman

Please see my comment below. Lighten up and be comfortable w/ your academic achievements. You don’t have to defend them to anyone.

          • Blaser270

Idiots are generally in charge of the school districts. While they might have numerous degrees and certifications many of them are clueless about the real world. They have their narrow view of life as they see it and God forbid you don’t agree with them. Was there, 28 years and saw my share… very few exceptions and they worked their tails off trying to fix the problems but being outnumbered 10-1 or worse it’s a never ending battle.

          • curmudgeon

Hey, look what it got us, our first half black resident! Surprised we didn’t have to hire another person to actually do the real work a genuine President should be doing.

Elsie…you’re not a very creative reader, but then again maybe you are. The authors name isn’t Tim..it’s Tom. If you’re going to berate somebody you could at least get their name right…don’t you think so Elsie ?

      • Alice

Don’t you wish Elsie and other libs could be required to defend their country once in a while instead of running it down?

        • princesssong

Alice the LIBS nor Elsie, could walk in my Military Guys Shoes, for a day. BUT Yes, they should try it.

          • happylada

They don’t have the guts. It doesn’t come neat packages in plastic packages with instructions to tell them what to think

          • curmudgeon

Boy, you nailed it and this vet would not care to serve with any of them. Draftees were bad enough, but that has since been eliminated.

          • Major

We don’t need them and never will.

          • princesssong

        • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=707270629 Jim Speed

You aint kidding. These libs think they know it all.. but know absolutely nothing.

        • grannykate62

Yes, one day in real service to anyone other than themselves and their money outside an a/c office-they couldn’t handle it, that’s why they criticize-that’s how cowards think and act

          • Major

And they have no idea where their AC comes from either. But their all against Big Energy and coal mines, while driving their electric cars.

          • grannykate62

            Brilliant! and true!

        • J. Brown

Wonder if I met Elsie in journalism class. I’m a disabled combat vet to whom she she was going to explain how society functioned using the wisdom of a 19 year old. I had socks older and smarter than her.

          • princesssong

Thank you for your service J!

          • J. Brown

Thank you, the pleasure was all mine. I got a million dollars worth of education and experience. Now I’m paying off my “student loan”. Hope the year goes well for each of you.

          • Major

            Ditto…Thanks for your service.

          • J. Brown

I’ve got your back brother, it’s a Marine thing. Great country deserves our efforts.

          • Major

We always do Sir, don’t we?

          • princesssong

well I will be promoting the hospital I want to build for past, present, future Military, so I hope it to be great!! Thank you J

        • pineapple

If we relied on them, we would never win a war.

          • falling321

The fact is that they have prevented us from winning more than one war and have actually ensured (as Obama did in Iraq) that the blood, body parts and lives we left behind were irrelevant in the end! But not one of our men or women in the military are responsible for the liberal cowards lack of character and appreciation for all our military does!

          • pineapple

I wholeheartedly agree with you. I would rather have the cowardly French as our ally than the lily livered liberals.

Liberals aren’t fit to shine the shoes of our military people, and probably wouldn’t know how.

          • Major

They don’t fit that tag any longer. maybe 60 years ago…but not now.

        • D-man

          Alice,
I read an op ed in the WaPo by a regressive writer whose name slips me right now, but he thought they should bring back the draft so not only would we have young people exposed to military discipline but that they would appreciate their country more, as well as respect those who sacrifice willingly and selflessly.I was shocked to say the least , and wrote him an e-mail saying he was going to get crap about that and probably be drubbed out of the regressive sycophant Obama corps , never got a return reply.

        • JHorvathJr

Let the cows hide in the barn; we don’t need their cowardly cowpats in the field. Mooooooooooooo Elsie Mooooooooo

      • pineapple

She should smacked down for getting his name wrong.

      • debbie button

        Elsie doesn’t THINK.

    • Alice

So, there are a lot of smack downs in the article, and the title says Smack Down – how creative must it be if the headline describes the article?

      • Dionysius John

Yeah.. Jim, you tell her.. not! You spend most of your posts calling others names, rather than contributing anything… get a life!

        • Ricky Ross

He isn’t capable of forming an original thought, so all he can do is call people names. Unfortunately, he gets a bunch of thumbs up for doing it. That speaks volumes about most of the people on this forum.

    • grannykate62

Elsie, we know you can’t read or think for yourself or anyone else, but his name is Tom!
      OooRah!

    • Steve Angell

Jake has no clue what it is like to be that brave. He is incapable of knowing anything other than his progressive religion (satanism IMHO).

But he just might know far more than we do about this war. He may know the real reason we went in and the real reason we are now losing on purpose. Just because he is part of the religion.

These liberal believes are so strong I call them religion because that is the only word that fits. It is pure evil thus satanism. It is either God or Satan.

Seems to me we are at wars now in the mid-east to fight for the Muslim Brotherhood, Al-Queda, and a new Ottoman Empire. I do not believe we went in there to fight terrorism but instead to make sure the right Muslims won. That is what everything points to and GW is fully on board with Obama.

But Luttrelll is just a soldier doing his best to defend America. He has honor. Jake is an enemy of America as founded. A traitor.

  • gmhunt4

The book should have never been written and no movie should have ever been made……..Marcus Luttrell is just looking to make money on the death of his comrades……..

    • Abunchofbullshit

What are you basing that on? All the families were there for private screenings and supported it all, so why do you say that……to hard for you to see what the military does for you?? I sure hope you criticized Obama as much for his truly sensitive leaks on things like the Bin Laden raid as well!

      • Ricky Ross

…LOL, what do they do for us? Invade countries and occupy them when they have done nothing to us? How exactly does that benefit the American citizens???

        • Burn_the_Witch

You could have just said “I don’t really know much about anything that matters” and saved yourself some pointless questions.

          • auntielib

Look Ricky, we all fully understand you are a 911 “truther”, you’ve made that abundantly clear.

But just because that happens to be YOUR particular faith belief, that doesn’t make what you are espousing “the truth”, you see.

And I notice you don’t seem to work up and post a coherent presentation of what makes you a 911 “truther”. No, all you seem to do is post rather sophomoric (and easily-dismissed) links to various “truther” sites.

So in conclusion, I’d say you’re not currently doing a very good job of evangelizing converts over to your point of view, Ricky.

          • Ricky Ross

I could type all day about facts that show that 911 was an inside job.

            - Insider trading on the airlines involved on 911

            - Building 7

            - Who chaired the corporations for the Insurance companies and security companies involved on 911

            - Secretary of Transportation, Norman Mineta’s 911 Commission testimony

            …are just a few.

          • crosshaironU

Ricky you’re fighting a loosing battle but there once was a time I was ready to fight anyone who said 911 was an inside job
Then I started reading the 911 report and WAY to many questions went unanswered to down right lies and that’s when the sickening feeling hit me
Those who blindly follow what the government says no matter what party they support without questioning it’s answers are foolish at best to down right stupid and dangerous
They may think they are true patriots, most do ,they wave the American flag say the pledge pop off fire crackers on the 4th and talk a lot of patriotic stuff,BUT most also fail to do what was told for us to do, QUESTION the government
Truth is a bitter pill and MOST people can’t handle it, just like a child whining about having to take meds to make them better

          • 91B4S

You have a much greater chance of being killed by a drunk driver or by medical malpractice than by a police officer. See, I can use non-sequitur statistics too.

          • Ricky Ross

Sure, but unlike the phony war on “terrorism” our liberties and freedoms are not being eroded because of drunk drivers and Physicians…and we do not pay drunk drivers or Physicians our hard earned money to “serve and protect” us!

Point is, instead of our troops fighting and dying over pointless illegal occupations started by our own governments corruption, we should be more concerned about the growing trend of law enforcement officers killing Americans!

If all of the money spent and all of the deaths for “terrorism” is worth it, then why not do something about an entity (that we pay to protect us) who kill 8 times more Americans than “terrorism”???

          • 91B4S

To further address your non-sequitur…Your statistic is skewed because of the low sample rate of terrorists in America. i.e. there are many more police than terrorists. That is of course the result of the military and law enforcement doing their respective jobs. Now, if you are truly incensed about this, why don’t you quit your job and join the military or law enforcement? I am sure both careers would welcome someone with your unique insight.

          • Ricky Ross

I already served 6 years in the Army…that is why I have the insight that I do! The propaganda that you are fed does not work on me…

You seem confused…you posted the propaganda utilizing skewed statistics…I responded to your post. I was giving you the chance to prove your statistics are viable. You continue to be unable to do so. If you cannot do so, this conversation is complete. I also served in the Army…is that why the propaganda you are fed doesn’t work on me?

          • Eric Goodman

            We get
it. Since a college professor said it, it must be true. When was the last time
you were on a college campus (and I’m not talking about a quick trip to see a
free movie or lecture)? After two decades in a professional career, I decided
to go back to school to pursue a Masters degree I had always wanted. The atmosphere
on campus is so hostile towards our country. If any student questions a
professor who speaks out against America, that student is either outright
penalized/disciplined, or at the very least becomes ostracized. The same goes
for the small minority of professors who disagree with the liberal view. This
FAU professor is most likely hailed as a hero by most of the students and
faculty. One more note-my information and opinion comes from first hand
observations and immersion in the academic culture, including attending FSU. Go
            Noles!!

So your position is that the US Govt blew up the World Trade buildings with hijacked airline planes? The US Govt blew up the USS Cole? The US Govt blew up a bus in London? The US Govt blew up a train in Spain? The US Govt blew up two embassies in Africa? The US Govt blew up US barracks in Saudi Arabia? The US Govt crashed an airliner plane into the Pentagon? The US Govt blew up bystanders in the Boston Marathon?

Do you really think about the subject before you pipe off or is this just an innate distrust of what you are ignorant in that leads you to blindly accept the most unreasonable conclusion, simply because it fits your desired narrative?

          • Ricky Ross

Wow, you put a lot of words in my mouth there buddy!

your initial point was that the US military has done nothing good for US citizens, and you gave sarcastically two examples of invasions and occupations with out merit, or as you put it “they did nothing against us”. This would seemingly mean you believe the Al-Qaeda attacks from 1990-2001 where conspiracies of the US Govt, making Al-Qaeda as an innocent bystander to the events.

As typical of the ignorance that conspiracy theorist reveal by focusing on one minute aspect to hold their entire position, and much like illusionist playing with the slight of hand, focusing the attention where they desire you to look, while committing the con elsewhere, you conspiracy believers focus on the micro not wishing to acknowledge the macro or vise versa.

There is zero proof that those planes did not do what we all seen them do. This is nothing more than conjecture at unrelated coincidences to create a fabric that demands we not acknowledge what we already know.

I have no stomach for debating the merits of 9/11 as I get headaches trying to relate to your position and the depths of its ignorance. I merely needed to touch on all the other actions outside your contention that 9/11 was an inside job to discredit your initial position that the US Military has done nothing good for the American people outside invade and occupy countries that did nothing to us…I think I have accomplished my point.

Troops take an oath to UPHOLD THE CONSTITUTION! When they obey ILLEGAL orders to invade a sovereign nation who has done nothing to us, they are violating their oath’s!

If you could comprehend what I said, you would know that my words of “OBEYING ILLEGAL ORDERS” means that I know that the war is ILLEGAL because CONGRESS did NOT declare war…in the Bush administration (1 or 2) or the Obama administration!

          • dennodog

ricky retard…Congress authorized the wars. There hasn’t been a declaration of war sisnce 1941. That doesn’t make it ILLEGAL, F.Lee. • Rob Adcox

Thank you for your service, Ricky. You’re wrong, though. Since war wasn’t declared by congress, we aren’t officially at war. The time to object to conflict isn’t while we’re in a shooting engagement with hostiles, because doing so only makes us look like we lack resolve and therefore emboldens those who are shooting at us. As you say, the truth is the truth.

          • Ricky Ross

Here is some more TRUTH for you! Remember Pat Tillman? Here are his words…I suggest you read them and digest them!

            - Somehow we were sent to invade a nation because it was a direct threat to the American people, or to the world, or harbored terrorists, or was involved in the September 11 attacks, or received weapons – grade uranium from Niger, or had mobile weapons labs, or WMD, or had a need to be liberated, or we needed to establish a democracy, or stop an insurgency, or stop a civil war we created that can’t be called a civil war even though it is. Or something like that.

            - Somehow our elected leaders were subverting international law and humanity by setting up secret prisons around the world, secretly kidnapping people, secretly holding them indefinitely, secretly not charging them with anything, secretly torturing them. Somehow that overt policy of torture became the fault of a few “bad apples” in the military.

            - Somehow back at home, support for the soldiers meant having a five year-old kindergartener scribble a picture with crayons and send it overseas, or slapping stickers on cars, or lobbying Congress for an extra pad in a helmet. It’s interesting that a soldier on his third or fourth tour should care about a drawing from a five yea -old; or a faded sticker on a car as his friends die around him; or an extra pad in a helmet, as if it will protect him when an IED throws his vehicle 50 feet into the air as his body comes apart and his skin melts to the
            seat.

            - Somehow the more soldiers that die, the more legitimate the illegal invasion becomes.

            - Somehow American leadership, whose only credit is lying to its people
and illegally invading a nation, has been allowed to steal the courage, virtue and honor of its soldiers on the ground.

            - Somehow those afraid to fight an illegal invasion decades ago are allowed to send soldiers to die for an illegal invasion they started.

            - Somehow faking character, virtue and strength is tolerated.

            - Somehow profiting from tragedy and horror is tolerated.

            - Somehow the death of tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of people is tolerated.

            - Somehow subversion of the Bill of Rights and The Constitution is tolerated.

            - Somehow suspension of Habeas Corpus is supposed to keep this country safe.

            - Somehow reason is being discarded for faith, dogma, and nonsense.

            - Somehow American leadership managed to create a more dangerous world.

            - Somehow a narrative is more important than reality.

            - Somehow America has become a country that projects everything that it is not and condemns everything that it is.

Most likely, they will come to know that “somehow” was nurtured by fear, insecurity and indifference, leaving the country vulnerable to unchecked, unchallenged parasites.

          • Eric Goodman

Pat said all that? Wow, talk about a true patriot! This is how he felt, yet he still volunteered to go over and fight. A true American hero (and I am NOT being sarcastic).

          • Ricky Ross

He said it AFTER he enlisted and witnessed all of the LIES!

          • Eric Goodman

I think you missed my point.

          • Rob Adcox

Pat Tillman was an intelligent man. He was an accomplished football player for the Arizona Cardinals. He endured Ranger training. One would think that he knew how to size up a situation before entering it. Therefore, his protests of a war which he voluntarily engaged in seem a bit self-contradictory.

          • Major

If you choose to believe all that…you can’t possibly stay here any longer, in good conscious. You might be needed in Canada.

          • Alice

Presidents and Congress people also take an oath to uphold the Constitution, but when was the last time in five years they actually paid even lip service to our Constitution?

          • Ricky Ross

You are correct! …but, it goes back much longer than 5 years!

          • Ana Eichenlaub

We upheld the Constitution because it was a LEGAL order. I have provided you with some literature so that you may be well informed and stop making baseless statements ok Mr Ross? Below is the Bill that authorized the President to Use Military Force against Iraq! We violated no Oath and never will!!!!!!!
            H.J.RES.114
Title: Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002

          • Ricky Ross

Nope…you are WRONG! Our Constitution only authorizes war if Congress authorizes it!!!

          • Guest

Since congress didn’t declare war, we’re merely in a police action. Hope that makes you feel better. ;)

          • Ricky Ross

            …and that is unconstitutional!!!

            and therefore WRONG!

        • samazf

Liberal troll who doesn’t deserve the freedoms men and woman have died to make sure you continue to have.

          • Ricky Ross

LOL…not a Liberal. Look at my avatar! I voted Republican since 1988…but then I woke up to the charade and now I do not play the ritual voting game!

          • Major

Don’t worry about voting…an illegal will just nullify it anyway.

        • Abunchofbullshit

Riccccky, Rickkkyyyy, I want my two dollars!! Sorry, just remember old movie….anyway, I guess you are saying that the soldier makes the decision what battles to fight and not your man, OBAMA!?!?! Be careful what you say, you may have the NSA and a vet show up at your door!

          • Ricky Ross

“Just obeying orders” did was not a good excuse in history, so why should it be now?

It may seem off for me, a military man, to adopt such a comparison. Truthfulness compels me to. I spent thirty-three years and four months in active military service as a member of this country’s most agile military force, the Marine Corps. I served in all commissioned ranks from Second Lieutenant to Major-General. And during that period, I spent most of my time being a high-class muscle-man for Big Business, for Wall Street, and for the Bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism.

I suspected I was just part of a racket at the time. Now I am sure of it. Like all the members of the military profession, I never had a thought of my own until I left the service. My mental faculties remained in suspended animation while I obeyed the orders of higher – ups. This is typical with everyone in the military service.”

            - General Smedley Butler, USMC Retired General, Speech in 1933 (The most decorated Marine in USA history)

          • Jan McMullen

So the guy spent 33 years HATING what he was doing? and then retired with the benies allowed at the time and then gave speech about how much he hated it?

          • Abunchofbullshit

Thanks for your service Ricky. Understand, I agree with your premise, but I know that with all that service you understand what I am saying regarding orders and respect to the Commander in Chief (who in this case we both find disgusting I think). Thanks again for your service.

          • Ricky Ross

It would be very difficult for me to think of any term that disgusted me
more than those words uttered continuously in the presence of virtually
any soldier in the United States: “Thank you for your service.”

            What
service is actually being praised by those conditioned to say these
empty words? Why are they thanking and praising nearly every soldier
            they see?

            -
Is it because hatred of the U.S. is increasing, and new enemies are
being created in the Middle East and all around the rest of the world?

            -
Is it because thousands and thousands of innocent people are being
killed now in places like Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Libya, Syria,
Yemen, and many more are being threatened?

            - Is it because
20,000,000 to 30,000,000 foreigners, mostly innocent civilians, have
died just since World War II due to U.S. interference and war?

            -
Is it because indefinite detention without due process, torture,
assassination, and rendition are now common and accepted practices?

            - Is it because suicide rates among American soldiers have increased 80% since the Iraq War began?

            - Is it because
mental problems now send more military personnel to the hospital than any other cause?

            - Is it because destruction and separation of military families is rampant?

            - Is it because civil liberties have all but disappeared due to so-called terrorism legislation to keep us safe?

            - Is it because American citizens are now being forced to buy corporate commodities, even if they do not want to?

            -
Is it because of the creation of the USA PATRIOT Act, Military
Commissions Act, NDAA, TSA, and Department of Homeland Security?

            - Is it because of the massive buildup of killer drones abroad and at home?

            - Is it because DHS has bought 9,000 armored check points from Shelters Direct?

            - Is it because DHS has bought enough ammunition to sustain 25 year war?

            - Is it because the huge deficit spending to support multiple aggressive wars is causing economic chaos?

            - Is it because of the surging number of double
            amputees of American soldiers?

            - Is it because of increasing energy costs due to the United States unwarranted presence in the Middle East region?

            - Is it because the domestic police have now become a brutal militarized force, bent on controlling the entire population?

            I
could of course go on, but the picture is clear. Those who continue to
believe the propaganda about all U.S. wars leading to the protection of
freedom, and to our national security, are blinded by ignorance, and
consumed by pathetic false patriotism. No U.S. wars have ever served the
purpose of freedom; they have only served to destroy it.

            Due to
these wars of aggression and occupation, our freedoms are virtually
non-existent today. We are spied upon, tracked, searched without
warrant, sexually assaulted, and radiated. There are now checkpoints in
many parts of the country where it is demanded that we “show our
papers,” and killer spy drones are filling our skies. Government agents
and the military are patrolling all U.S. borders, and Blackhawk war
helicopters sporting heavily armed soldiers hanging on tethers are
            flying over our cities.

Because of these wars, the government has
gained enormous power, and continues its assault on liberty. A police
state environment has taken hold, and if not curbed soon, will lead to
Martial Law in the near future. The DHS has purchased enough killing
ammunition to murder more than twice the population, and on the say so
of one man, Americans can and are being assassinated. Why?

            In
order for our national security to be defended, we first have to be
attacked. That has not happened. In order to protect freedom here at
home, all foreign wars must cease, and all the government agencies and
“terrorism” legislation created since 9/11 should be abolished
immediately! Every U.S. base on foreign soil should be closed, and every
troop stationed in another country should come home and enter the
private sector. At least that would be a good start.

            There is a
reason that the young are sent as cannon fodder to die in the wars of
the politicians, bankers, and corporations. They are less likely to
challenge the orders they are given; orders meant to be obeyed
regardless of the immoral nature of those demands, and regardless of the
horrible consequences they will most certainly face. Those who “serve”
do not serve the people who falsely praise them; they only serve one
master, and that master is the nation state and its benefactors. It is
            not “we the people.”

Thank you for your service? Absolutely not! We can’t afford any more of this kind of service!

          • auntielib

Wow, you sure type fast, Ricky!
(Or are you just copying and pasting a collection of sermons that you and/or others have written previously?)

          • Ellzee Mason

Some men who go into military service get a little twisted by the experience. Clearly, Ricky is one of them.
And apparently he is one of the biggest hypocrites ever known to mankind – since he joined the Army, took the taxpayers money for 6 years, and “served” (but please be sure not to thank him) in a cause he abhors. Wow.
Actually, my guess is that Little Ricky is STILL living on our money, since he clearly isn’t right in the head and is probably being supported with a “medical disability” pension.

          • Abunchofbullshit

Wow, I didn’t expect that. The thank you may ring hollow to you, and I’m sorry for that, but I have a son in his 17th year with the Army, so I am familiar with the family sacrifices he has made and will be very thankful that come 20-22 years that is the only sacrifice he has made. I know his family sacrifices every time he goes over there, which is way too often. Ricky, the rest of what you said I am on the same page with you, and will march with you anytime you call to do something about it….we all have been duped!

          • Ana Eichenlaub

Get a life you pathetic fool…read about Islam extremism and the roots of it…we are not the cause of their hate…they have hated for centuries…You are a sad excuse for a man…you obviously failed at serving and now fill that void with hate and literature that rewards your empty life and somehow validates you. Don;t you worry Mr Ross… i am on active duty and will no thank you for a damned thing.

          • Ricky Ross

I have a pretty good life…self employed and all! The economy has hurt my business a bit, but I am still hanging in there :-)

Do not worry, I will not thank you EVER as you are doing what I once did…you only serve big corporations that bribe our government officials via Lobbyist! You have not done a thing to help this country…your actions have only served to further enslave the citizens of America!

            CONGRATULATIONS!

          • Ricky Ross

“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.”

            ~ Upton Sinclair

          • Dan

Gee little Ricky you just said previously you served from, and I quote, ” I served from 88-94!” And an officer no less?….LMAO! Bet this clown…you never have served in the military. At least not an American branch.

          • auntielib

Whoops! Little Ricky just got bagged and tagged!

            Nicely done, Dan.

          • Hunt

He was quoting Smedley Butler guys. We all need to read carefully here.

          • auntielib

OK, I stand corrected, and disavow my comment that Little Ricky was bagged and tagged.

Besides, I should have known better. As Ricky has repeatedly reminded us, “the truth is the truth” and he “speaks the truth” whereas the rest of us foolishly “speak propaganda”.

Always remember, 911 Truthers Know Best!

          • Ricky Ross

An officer? No, I never said that…EVER!

So, stop lying…please debate me with facts and not fabrications. But, I understand your position…it is much easier for you to make childish accusations and call me a liar, then it is to engage me in a real debate with facts!

Ask me any question about my time served and I can answer it. I have my DD214 to prove everything that I have accomplished.

Funny, you would rather debate the unknown, then to debate FACTS!

You are using rule #4 of the 25 Rules of Disinformation:

            4. Use a straw man. Find or create a seeming element of your opponent’s
argument which you can easily knock down to make yourself look good and the opponent to look bad. Either make up an issue you may safely imply exists based on your interpretation of the opponent/opponent arguments/situation, or select the weakest aspect of the weakest charges. Amplify their significance and destroy them in a way which appears to debunk all the charges, real and fabricated alike, while actually avoiding discussion of the real issues.

          • Dan

Hey Ricky…you need to get back on your meds buddy and go take a lil nap.

          • Dan

You never served as an officer? Here’s one of your inconvenient quotes then,”I served in all commissioned ranks from Second Lieutenant to Major-General.” You should take all your wisdom and proof read your material Ricky before shooting your pie-hole off again. Have you taken your meds yet?

          • Ricky Ross

Hey dimwit! Look at the bottom of that quote >>> it is from General Smedley Butler, the most decorated Marine in the history of the United States!

Please, before making a fool of yourself going forward, read and comprehend that which you intend to comment on!

It will save you much embarrassment!

        • DNS

Ricky R – You actually think that our military people decide on their own to go to other countries? Do you actually think that other countries or people “have done nothing to us” so our military goes anyway? Are you a ten year old elementary school drop out? History. Get some. Read it.

          • Ricky Ross

NO! I did not say that. Our troops are obeying illegal orders from their chain of command…starting with the POTUS (Bush & Obama) all the way down!

…and what exactly has Afghanistan & Iraq done to us? When you respond, try to think for yourself and not parrot the mainstream narrative!

Meanwhile, you need to get some History and read it…but more importantly, COMPREHEND it!

          • Robert

I was in Kuwait City when the Iraqis invaded Kuwait. Kuwait was and is an ally to the US by all standards of international view.

Earnest Will Missions performed in the 80′s were a direct request of Kuwait.

The Cease Fire Agreement signed by the allies and Iraq had conditions that had to be met or the agreement to be considered canceled. The war was never ended, much like Korea is today.

The War Powers Act gives the President the power to utilize military operations without a request of war. There are standards that have to be met if the President doesn’t wish to get Congressional approval for continued actions. But in the two cases you label “illegal wars”, this consideration does not apply, because Congress did authorize the use of force to be carried out as the President deemed necessary with limitations being Congress held oversight authority and International Law on War.

The Barbers War of the early 1800′s is a historical precedence of the Executive Branch’s use of force to insure vital US interest outside the US are protected and advanced, without a declaration of war from Congress.

The religious aspects of Al-Qaeda where formulated in the political prisons of Egypt in the 80′s when the then Muslim leaders were discussing the proper role of Fatwas and their limits. It was the extreme position of Ayman Al-Zawahiri that were adopted by Bin Laden in order to expand his desire to create a Caliphate region of Sunni led muslims. Bin Laden did not originally view the US as an enemy, but changed that view when his aspirations of over throwing the Saudi King could not be envisioned successfully so long as the King enjoyed partnership with the US.

The bombing of the US barracks in Saudi Arabia was the first attack against the US that Al-Qaeda performed in an attempt to highlight the US presence as infidels on the soil of Mecca in order to separate the Saudi public support of the King and start a revolution to over throw the King.

The revolution never occurred for the plan backfired by gaining the King even more international support, including more US support, and the King used his treasure to buy off and appease the Saudi citizens to remain loyal.

With this stable public support, the King cracked down on militant and dissident support in Saudi Arabia and forced them to move to Yemen.

Fearing being trapped on the Arabian Peninsula by an increasing US presence and influence, as well as a now challenged King in Saudi Arabia, Bin Laden moved his operations to Afghanistan and used Pakistan as a movement to and from the rest of the world.

These are the facts, not conspiracy theory. Your position on the legalities of military actions in both Iraq and Afghanistan just do not hold up to the legal system of the US. You are welcome to not like or appreciate the actions taken by our country, but your claims to the truth and legitimacy are nothing more than supposition and projection of your desire to be supported in your disdain for your government. That does not make them accurate or factual. You can enter in debate demanding that those who oppose your view prove a negative in order to disprove your position, this however is nothing more than debate tactics and not an affirmation of your position.

As a person who seen first hand the horrors of what the Iraqi people did to the Kuwaiti people, I am confident in the righteous position that our country upheld by coming to the aid of an ally and putting down not just the invasion force, but insuring that it will be a long time coming before Kuwait will need to fear its northern neighbor again.

You can take the hypothetical of journalists and theorists, but know they were not there, nor privi to know what is fact and what is could be.

          • Ricky Ross

            BLAH, BLAH, BLAH!

            Here is the TRUTH…

            SEARCH ON YOUTUBE:

            “Faked Kuwaiti Girl Testimony”

            You were HOAXED!

            FACT!

          • Robert

ahh yes, let me practice the art of intelligent conclusion, where as I totally denounce all the actions I witnessed with my own two eyes, the injuries I received, the actions that earned several of us merits and accommodation, including an open invitation of the Prince for his gratitude in helping him, his family, his friends, his countrymen, that he witnessed us do, in those horrifying days, and wrap that up with the conclusion that I have been duped because some YouTube video says so…I will get right on that conversion…but don’t hold your breath waiting, for it’s not going to occur in this lifetime.

        • hwy505

It must be difficult for people such as yourself to function without an iota of critical thinking skills.

        • ChristianMan

Invade countries and ocuppy them. You might want to read up on some real history, not the stuff that is being spewed in schools these days, but the older history books. The only land this country has ever occupied in another country is the land we buried our US soldiers who defended that country. Also, how does it benefit the American citizen? Well, the majority of our police force have military background, next time someone breaks into your home to rob you of your possessions or you get mugged on the street, try calling a plumber or a newspaper reporter, maybe they will do a better job of defending you.No offense to plumbers or reporters, but you get my point.

        • Scamp1

This is not the about the politics of our Country and why we “Invade”. (see interview). This is how these men and women go about their job , whatever the mission. “Understanding” unfortunately doesnt come up in the conversation when the mission is being handed down. Why is it when ever theres a topic that like in this case should have a unbiased political view, ends up being just that. At Ease!

        • Bo Frye

Ricky it is unfortunate that you seem to know so little. Read history, absorb some of it. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

        • Ana Eichenlaub

We keep them from coming here and blowing your ass up…maybe we should let them do that you good for nothing liberal scum!!!!

          • Ricky Ross

Did it ever occur to you that the reason any of them would want to come “blow us up” is the same reason we would want to blow up members of another countries military if they were illegally occupying our country and enforcing Martial Law, check points, home invasions, etc…?

One man’s terrorist is another man’s Patriot!

We have created our enemy! Do some research on how/why AlQuada currently exist!

Yes, the American government created them as well as Tim Osmond! Who is Tim Osmond? Search him and you will see!!!

        • laurachatfield

As a Marine told me last week, he would rather keep the fighting over there than to have to start fighting our enemies once they’ve hit our turf. Would you like to see us in full combat on American soil because we didn’t keep them at bay in their own country? If you want to blame someone, blame Obama and Congress. Our troops and soldiers just don’t get up in the morning and decide to deploy themselves in to enemy territory for shits and giggles. Apparently you are good with Shariah law coming to take over our Constitutional laws. Did you ever serve?

          • Ricky Ross

Yes, I served 6 years. Read this comment forum and you will see my statement of duty!

The Marine you spoke to is DELUSIONAL as would be expected! One has to tell themselves that they are doing some sort of service for humanity to justify their actions!

Maybe, just maybe, if the US Government would stop building EMPIRE all over the world, people would not want to harm the American people???

      • nell

Which never took place…….Bin Laden died of Kidney failure a long time before he was ‘killed’ in that shatty town……There’s no one alive who can attest to the truth……WHO did they throw into the sea?????Thanks to this young man, we at least can see what ‘our ‘ country is up to….getting our best and brightest killed for……nothing!!!!!

        • auntielib

“Bin Laden died of Kidney failure a long time before he was ‘killed’ in that shatty town……”
          —–
Really? How do you know that? Just because someone wrote it?
          ——
“There’s no one alive who can attest to the truth……”
          —–
Oh dear, in that case, you DO have a bit of a problem, don’t you, nell, because perhaps Bin Laden didn’t “die of kidney failure” after all, right?

Perhaps instead a brave United States serviceman killed the guy.

        • Ana Eichenlaub

LOL>>>>>>LOL this is even funnier than Ricky…OMG another crack head on the loose. Nell, please do yourself a favor and stay out of subjects you obviously know nothing about. You are so sadly ignorant that a foolish person such as Ricky puts out the most ridiculous garbage for people with little intelligence to digest and you run with it….LOL Go back into the hole you crept out of because you make such ludicrous comments; you offend every single active duty personnel (such as myself) who know the truth to be otherwise.

Kudos to him for making some money ,our government sure is not taking very good care of our military. He is NOT betraying his comrades,he is emulating them and their story!

    • fatmababy105

      Are you a veteran ??

      • gmhunt4

28 years in the Army, retired. depolyed twice to Iraq……

        • Jan McMullen

          Thank you for serving!

          • auntielib

Yeah, except it sounds like gmhunt4 is mad at himself for having served, Jan.

        • Ana Eichenlaub

Shame on you ….Hateful and dishonoring our own kind!!!!!

    • hwy505

Says the person who: 1) Obviously has never read the book; 2) Does not understand “honor” and what it is to make sure EVERYONE knows the story; 3) That royalties also go to many different outlets that help veterans and the villagers that saved Lutrell; 4) and finally…there’s nothing wrong with “making money” by writing a book. Putz!!

      • gmhunt4

        jackass

    • auntielib

I wonder what gmhunt4 thinks about the fact that Barak wrote a book or two?

      • gmhunt4

I would not waste my spit, spitting in Obama face…..he should have been Impeached 4 years ago, but NO one in Congress has the guts to bring the charges.

        • auntielib

OK, but returning to the point, just because Barak is a greedy, evil SOB who wrote a book, that doesn’t mean everybody else who writes a book is greedy or evil, you see.

    • auntielib

Also worth noting is that General George Washington also wrote concerning the death of his comrades.

If books don’t get written, history gets forgotten, gmhunt4.

      • gmhunt4

History books, several accounts, NOT just one……..

        • auntielib

Apparently you are unaware that other books have also been written about that particular war, besides the “just one” book that Mr. Luttrell wrote, gmhunt4.
Your ignorance of that fact, while perhaps understandable, is nevertheless lamentable.

Perhaps you should propel yourself over to your local library and obtain and read some of the other books that have been written about that same war, so as to correct your mistaken belief that Mr. Luttrell’s book is the only book?

          • gmhunt4

Have you ever been in combat????? you sound brain dead

          • auntielib

I’ve already answered your question (you really should at least TRY to keep up with what others are saying, gmhunt4, lest you come across as ignorant and stupid) and no, I don’t sound “brain dead” at all.

You’re just bitter because I was able to easily refute your claim that Mr. Luttrell’s fine book is the only book that has been written about that particular war. Thus you sank to puerile namecalling and personal insults.

          • gmhunt4

You have done anything except prove my point, writer are just “story” tellers. The stories are ALWAYS less “fact” and more story to sound a certain way. Did you not take English literature in school??

          • auntielib

We could compare our English SAT scores I suppose. I suspect mine was considerably higher than yours, gmhunt4.

But regardless as that may be, I can’t help but notice you have, so far at least, been unable to identify even ONE item in Mr. Luttrell’s fine book which “isn’t factual”.

            Why is that, gmhunt4??

    • Alice

I suppose “Patton” and other films depicting America’s sacrifice and the men who died for freedom also should be shelved, gmhunt4. More films showing exceptionalism in America ought to be made, not less.

      • gmhunt4

Patton films were just that “stories”……this film is protreade as “real” and you do NOT know, there are NO facts, just one persons account, to make himself look good.

        • auntielib

Well, I don’t know about that, since I haven’t watched the film yet and obviously you have gmhunt4, but I HAVE read the book that the film was supposedly based on, and it was chock full of facts, and those facts made the author Luttrell look good.

          • gmhunt4

one persons facts or NOT facts

          • auntielib

Nope. Facts are mutual property, gmhunt4.

        • Ana Eichenlaub

And your comment is true why? What facts do you have that make you the one telling the truth and the guy who lived through the battle not? What exactly did you not achieve in your 28 years of service? What value did you lose along the way that has made you the bitter old person you are? Jealously is a word that somehow comes to mind…you should learn to respect others and not try to take away from their accomplishments and hard work with your jealousy and hate.

    • SickOf BeingCoddled

If you had never written and posted that comment, you could have gone through the rest of your life with none of us knowing how ignorant and uninformed and vindictive you are!! Too late now, you are branded.

    • Major

You lowlife…he was honoring his fellow Seals, their bravery and commitment to their mission, each other and the country. Something a pathetic cellar dweller like you would know nothing of.

  • jon

Jake tapper has no clue as he is a tv reporter who has never been in a life or death situation !! he is just a teleprompter repeater with no common sense and a liberal bent agenda !

  • Kathy

Sounds to me like the “talking point” for the week from the left (president), is to propagandize the Afghanistan war as a bad thing!! Mainly because O doesn’t have an iota of a clue as to what he is doing!! All these pundits are too afraid of retaliation to speak the truth about what a liar and cheat this man usurping our WH is, so he sends his minions out every week to sell more lies to the public!! Sad thing is alot of people believe the crap he’s slinging!!

    • Jan McMullen

But… “Our focus should be on Afghanistan not Iraq” said Obama is 2008 campaign

    • Ricky Ross

The Afghanistan occupation is a good thing?

      • JayJCee

Born yesterday, were you? Or have you just not watched TV for the last decade? 0bama himself called the Afghan WAR the GOOD WAR. Those words are saved for posterity – try youtube.

  • Abunchofbullshit

What a bloviating idiot! To dig up the ‘questions’ on what happened and woulda shoulda type scenarios is disrespectful for all who gave their lives. This is what Special Ops does, and who is Tapper to say “not enough back-up”, etc. Jake, keep your mouth shut or take up a gun and go see for yourself!!
Rest in Peace all who have given their lives to support the likes of a Jake Tapper who have trouble with the truth and have an agenda that disrespects all Good Americans!

  • Ricky Ross

If our troops were actually fighting for our FREEDOM and LIBERTIES, they would be fighting the only entity that is TRULY USURPING and JEOPARDIZING our FREEDOMS and LIBERTIES >>> the U.S. Government! ILLEGALLY occupying sovereign nations that have done NOTHING to the U.S.A. and obeying ILLEGAL orders in doing so, is NOT fighting and dieing for our FREEDOMS and LIBERTIES!

    • Ricky Ross

      We were warned about this…

      “Of
all the enemies to public liberty war is, perhaps, the most to be
dreaded because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. War
is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes. And armies,
and debts, and taxes are the known instruments for bringing the many
under the domination of the few. In war, too, the discretionary power of
the Executive is extended. Its influence in dealing out offices,
honors, and emoluments is multiplied; and all the means of seducing the
minds are added to those of subduing the force of the people. The same
malignant aspect in republicanism may be traced in the inequality of
fortunes, and the opportunities of fraud, growing out of a state of war .
. . and in the degeneracy of manners and morals, engendered by both. No
nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare.”

      - James Madison, April 20, 1795

      • Jan McMullen

Madison was more of a writer than a fighter! Not a surprising quote.

        • Ricky Ross

LOL, the truth is the truth! Nice straw man attempt…

          • auntielib

Mr. Luttrell wrote the truth also, Ricky.
And THAT is the reason why your evangelical effort is falling on deaf ears.

      • DNS

Madison was intelligent but you are simply trying to change the subject by morphing it into a diatribe of *Attack your own country, not your enemies*.

    • Jan McMullen

As a military person, that would be “TREASON”. So you are saying we should just take the hits(9-11, hijackings, wmds, others asking for help) and let them continue?

      • Ricky Ross

Obviously, you have fallen for all of the false flags and propaganda! You really should open your eyes!

        • Mlm46

You are the one that should open your eyes! To believe that everything that happened on 911 was a planned plot by our own government is incredibly insane! How could they pull that off to go the way it did? Please enlighten us with how it was done!

    • Burn_the_Witch

      Capslock key KEEPS STICKING.

    • Ana Eichenlaub

Why are you yelling Ricky? Do you think that yelling stupid crap really loud will somehow make us believe you? Do you have any thought of your own? Everything you post is cut and pasted from the works of other idiots…nobody believes or cares about the stupid propaganda you like to launch against us….

  • Stoneyjack

Luttrell seems to be a good man. Too bad Hollywood chose scruffy little leftist jerk Mark Wahlberg to portray him.

    • Jan McMullen

      Agree Wahlberg is a putz!

  • Allen Lee Runyon Sr

Why do reporters always feel the need such tail holes. Why talk about command level errors. Why talk to a man that lost friends in battle and tell him it was senseless. Or tell him it was hopeless. Mark should have beaten the tar out of him. I never served but my dad was in the Navy. I’ve known some men who did some serious fighting. They’re doing a job, that they take great pride in. Those men who die in war make the ultimate sacrifice for their job. For our freedom. THANK YOU TO ALL THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO SERVE THIS COUNTRY.
