Patients leave hospitals untreated as Obamacare confusion kicks in

The Obama administration’s most recent claim that 2 million Americans have gotten insurance coverage through Obamacare is being played up by its media cheerleaders, but sick people trying to get treatment might not have much to cheer about.

That’s because up to a third of enrollment policies were corrupted by a dismal computer system or are otherwise flawed, according to a Washington Post report in early December. If the 2 million number cited by the administration is accurate, that means some 700,000 Americans might just think they have health insurance – but really don’t.

A patient leaves a health complex in Northern Virginia after being told her insurance coverage could not be verified.

And some hospitals aren’t willing to take the chance.

“They had no idea if my insurance was active or not!” a patient named Maria Galvez said as she left the Inova Healthplex center in Springfield, Va., according to the MailOnline. Galvez left the complex without getting an X-ray after being told she would be billed for the entire amount because she had no valid insurance card.

“It’s not fair – you know, I signed up last week like I was supposed to,” she said.

Signed up, maybe. But did she pay?

“No one has sent me a bill,” she said.

There’s the rub. Whether Obama Democrats get it or not – someone actually does have to pay for stuff eventually, and hospitals don’t want to be left holding a bunch of Obamacare IOUs.

The Obamacare chimera – like everything else in Obama’s tenure – is based on the idea that saying something is the same as doing it: calling the use of chemical weapons in Syria a “red line” that will mean U.S. action is the same as dropping bombs; saying “green energy” frauds like Solyndra will produce power is the same as having lights come on; thinking that signing up for an insurance policy on a barely functioning website is the same as actually paying for an insurance policy – and that having an insurance policy is the sams as getting treatment.

So the best the administration and its lemmings can come up with is a claim that 2 million people might have signed up for Obamacare, when more than 4 million have lost their policies because of it.

And patients like Maria Galvez don’t know if they have a policy or not – they just know they didn’t pay for one because no one sent them a bill.

Who exactly is cheering about this?
