Parents of black teen want teacher fired over ‘white Santa’ comment

The floodgates have opened in the wake of the backlash over Megyn Kelly’s controversial declaration last week that Santa Claus is a white man.

Now, the parents of a New Mexico high school freshman want a teacher fired for questioning why their black son was dressed up like Santa since Santa is “supposed to be white.”

“He was literally embarrassed,” Michael Rougier said of his son, Christopher, who wore a Santa hat and beard to Cleveland High School’s holiday dress-up day.

At some point, a teacher reportedly asked Christopher why he wore the beard and hat, saying, “don’t you know Santa Claus is supposed to be white?” KOAT-TV reported.

The Rougiers, who were told about the incident from another parent, were furious, saying their son “won’t even touch the Christmas decorations” since he is “too ashamed by what happened.”

According to the report, the teacher called and spoke to Mrs. Rougier to apologize for his comment.

The district said the teacher was disciplined, but offered no specific details to KOAT, other than to say the teacher is “on paid leave,” after he “admitted to making a stupid mistake and reported himself to the school.”

And Christopher has been removed from the teacher’s class at the request of his parents.

However, Michael Rougier said that’s not enough.

“He needs to be fired,” Rougier said.

“For him to make a comment like that, there has to be at a minimum prejudice in him, and we don’t have room for that.”

Saint Nick (Santa Claus) was white and European and Jesus was not black he was a middle eastern Jew. The only black in the equation is the Black president who happens to think he is God.
MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone and if you dont like it then go to work on Christmas day and give all the gifts you received from Christian friends, to charity. And HAPPY CHRISTMAS to you as well!

    • Angela H. Barrett

And a Merry Christmas to you, as well!

    • Pamela Forristall

Merry, Merry Christmas!! May we bow our heads and honor the birthday of our LORD and SAVIOR.

      • EliseR

And a Joyous Solstice to you!

        • Pamela Forristall

If that is what you celebrate – I fully support your right to do that – and so….BACK AT YOU! WHATEVER you celebrate – I would wish you joy in it. I would surely APPRECIATE the right to celebrate MY beliefs, which is the birth of Christ. I would not want say that other people should not celebrate whatever they believe in. It is called FREEDOM, and we are lucky to have it here in America. Is the solstice Wicca, and does it fall at the same time of the year?

          • Diana Lynn McDargh

I’ve been catching flack from someone who decided from reading Jer. that the celebration of Christmas is pagan worship. I don’t care what it was. It’s what it is that matters to me. If Christianity stole something from Lucifer; then great! Lucifer has taken a lot of the goodness that God created to make something dark and ugly. Happy Birthday Jesus!

          • Gracie Love

            AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

          • joeblow1984

Jehovah’s Witnesses don’t celebrate Christmas for that very reason (pagan worship). They also don’t vote or use our court systems. What’s also interesting to know is that at one time Dwight Eisenhower was a Jehovah’s Witness. I am glad that they don’t make a big stir about this (they have to not take sides on politics) issue.

      • follis1

My mistake,I’m sorry. But this crap has got me so mad,I could spit bullets.LOL!!

  • Scooter Tramp

I guess the TRUTH doesn’t matter. Santa is WHITE!!! Since you PC’ whiny, “oh that hurt my feelings” an insist on being separate assholes want it your way, make up your own mythical imaginary fictional holiday being. This would never be an issue if you celebrated the REAL meaning of Christmas, THE BIRTH OF CHRIST!!!!!!!!!!

    • Pamela Forristall

So true….Jesus is the REASON for the SEASON in our house! LOVE YOU, JESUS!!!!

  • Humberto Alfredo Garcia

Another negro who can handle the true

  • wiseryet

Just a little levity from the teacher.

Prejudice exists while people haggle over nonessentials.

  • smogdew

Santa is a mythical person created in England long before any blacks had arrived (around the 15th century). Since he is (hopefully) a source of joy for children of all ethnicities, why can’t he be like them – if they want….black, white, oriental, who cares? It took a black woman, Aisha Harris and her big mouth to make the comment that ‘Santa is deficient in melatonin and a fat white guy’….that was ugly and unnecessary – but in this racist society, Megyn Kelly gets all the flack for commenting – BOTH are wrong but you don’t see Aisha’s face plastered all over the news. Americans can be just outright crude.
And yes, this teacher should lose her job-perhaps Harris can fix her up with something along the lines of denigrating white people and advancing racism.

    • Pamela Forristall

Santa was white from the beginning and will always be white….just like Martin Luther King will always be black. Just sayin that if some white person wanted to portray himself as Martin Luther King – and say that Martin Luther King COULDA SHOULDA WOULDA been white….all kinds of crap would fly.

      • EliseR

The difference is MLK was an actual person. Santa is a myth based on a historical person, but St. Nicholas did not live at the North Pole and fly around in a sleigh pulled by reindeer. Who cares what color a mythical figure is? Who cares if a black person wants to dress up as a mythical figure who is usually portrayed as white?

        • Pamela Forristall

Actually, I my memory does serve me – St. Nicholas was a real person who gave gifts to children – and the MYTH arose from him…and he was white. I would have to say –
good luck in changing the perception that Santa is white. Does not really MATTER to me. I don’t think that CHRISTMAS is about SANTA in any way, shape or form. The Grinch dressed up like Santa – and he was green. Honestly – this is a very dumb issue. For ME, Christmas is about the birth of the Lord, Jesus Christ – and that is what I celebrate. His birth. However – many other people celebrate in many other ways. Hannukah…Kwanza…and it appears that you celebrate Solstice. The entire issue has been created to stir up angst about the CHRISTMAS season, which is what liberals do every single year. I do suppose they LIKE the days off work…….. As for as the actual day….CHRISTMAS….Jesus is the REASON for that SEASON.

          • acetyl

Exactly Pamela….let a white person dress up as a black person and guess what you get called….RACIST!!!! blah blah whaa whaa

Liberals continue to lose ALL credibility when they continue to pick inane subjects to harp on especially from FOX. The crap the Liberal network hosts say and get away with in the name of “Freedom of Speech and Press” is pathetic! As long as they allow double standards the general public will continue to ignore their arguments. However, this teacher absolutely should be severely disciplined for making fun of this kid….

          • Pamela K. Cahoon Laub

We don’t know if the teacher was really making fun of the kid or merely made a thoughtless passing remark – maybe citing Megyn Kelly. The teacher apologized. I don’t think severe punishment is in order.

        • DocHollywood_2

It makes sense that if someone is playing Santa to an audience of mostly Black, White Asian, etc children, they would probably be of that racial extraction just to make it less confusing for the children at those schools or churches.

People need to get a life and focus on the important issues, not what color Santa is.

If this teacher was a Black history teacher and said that John Paul Jones was Black and not White, would they still have been put of paid leave, and are we now going to persecute people who teach our children the facts, or just look for the PC thing to do and say?

          • Pamela Forristall

I am pretty sick and tired of the POLITICALLY CORRECT and the RACIAL DIVISION that has been going on for about a decade or so. The POWERS THAT BE IN OFFICE right now have certainly rendered the RACIAL accusations to be irrelevant. EVERYTHING is racist. Everything. Ho Hum…..

      • joeblow1984

What if Michael Jackson when he was alive dressed as Santa Claus?

        • Pamela Forristall

What if I, a white person, dressed up like Barack Obama or Martin Luther King? Would that mean that they are really or suddenly white? The whole concept is retarded. You can’t change history. You can’t change reality. That does not mean that black families have not ALREADY been portraying Santa as black with their kids – probaby for a long, long time. Libtards are just trying to create another ruckus….this time a very STUPID one.

    • Joanne Styslinger

Santa Claus was of German descent not English. Came to pass in England because the royal family is of the German royal blood.

    • Pamela K. Cahoon Laub

Nicholas lived in Turkey in 270 a.d., his unselfish acts got him sainted. Santa Claus is the American version. Inner city blacks would be in even more trouble if white legislators didn’t provide them with social programs. That is a double-edged sword. That wimpy kid and his touchy biracial family are overreacting.

  • Dane Clark

What a bunch hacks. Look at what we have become in this country. If you want this teacher fired then fire Mahlur, fire Jackson, fire the whole lot bunch of the.We re raising a bunch of cry babys in the country. Get a grip and get a life.

    • Gracie Love

FIRE OBMA, SIBILUS, AND THE OTHER LIEING ! and fire everyone else in he WHITE HOUSE! ELISER IS just a troll!

  • Dawn

You are not required to be white to dress as Santa. That was a very cruel comment. Students should to be able to trust their teachers. The teacher should apologize to his student directly and then to the class.

    • disqus_Ao3LmdU11e

      oh bullshit!

    • Kathy Brown

To the student maybe, not the class. The student needs to grow up and get control of his emotions. This probably isn’t the worst thing he is going to hear in his life. Besides this is not some elementary or middle school kid. He is in high school and needs to grow a pair.

      • DocHollywood_2

No apology is necessary since the teacher whose job it is to educate students told them the facts supported by historical evidence and traditions.

Its the student, parents and the school district that cause this teacher to be placed on paid leave and its the teacher who deserves an apology.

What’s next on the PC academic road trip, telling students that the Moon really is made of cheese and that storks actually deliver babies?

        • Kathy Brown

I must digress. You are absolutely correct.

    • DocHollywood_2

So the teacher should apologize for telling the truth? What a load of BS.

“Im sorry Johnny for telling you the truth about the origin of Santa, and feel terrible that you and your family cannot handle reality, but Merry Christmas anyway.” By the way Johnny, irrelevant to what society says, 2+2 is still 4 regardless if you and your parents agree or not.”

Life is cruel and the sooner children learn that not everything goes their way the better prepared they will be when life really starts.

As a historian, I will always state that MLK was a Black man who was shot and killed by a James Earl Ray (a White man) in Memphis on April 4, 1968. Facts are facts and people need to learn to deal with reality.

By the way Obama is a White man who just happens to look like his Black father and not like his White mother, just the inverse of the late Carol Channing.

  • disqus_Ao3LmdU11e

YOU’RE BLACK!!!! get over yourself…Santa is White!!!! get over that…you can’t make something be what it ISN’T!!!!

  • Kenneth Clark

St. Nicholas (aka Santa Clause) is not a myth. He was in fact a real person whom did fill stockings that were hung out to dry on window sills of the children in his town/village. He took it upon himself to share with the less fortunate what he had which was normally food, something that was in short supply in the winter months. He was a white European and is well documented. Christians have set aside this day to remeber the birth of Christ.
The Santa Clause we know of to day was commercialized by an american company, Coca Cola. It became such a big hit that everyone got in on it.
If people would read a little history rather and learn rather than to pounce due to ignorance we could all benefit a great deal, especially the children, and we could all celebrate what this day has really been set aside to do which is to celebrate the good in people and appreciation of the ones we hold dearest giving to someone with no expectation of anything in return. It does not matter the color of skin or place of origin. What does matter is the teaching, by example, of how to bicker and hate to our children on whos hope our future lies.
So, everyone have a very Merry Christmas.

    • Angela H. Barrett

      And you, as well!
