‘Whitewashed’ Islamic history remains in Fla. textbook despite protest

A history textbook critics say “whitewashes” the history of Islam will continue to be used in Volusia County schools after a four-hour school board meeting Monday.

Almost 80 speakers addressed the board, the Daytona Beach News-Journal reported late Monday, with critics arguing Prentice Hall’s “World History” taught in the county’s 10th-grade classes includes a 32-page chapter about the spread of Islam but glosses over the violence that accompanied it.

The book also includes no  similar treatment of Christianity. That led  opponents to call for its replacement, but supporters of the book said Christianity’s history is covered in earlier school years.

Volusia County School Board members took no formal vote on the textbook. Only one, Republican Linda Costello, wanted the subject to be reviewed more. The board’s other Republican, Stan Schmidt, supported the book.

“I’m still confident with this book and its presentation to our students,” School Board Chairwoman Diane Smith said near the end of the meeting, according to the News-Journal.

The issue flared in late October and early November, when a parent of a Volusia student grew alarmed at the textbook’s content. Word about the textbook spread through social media, leading to a protest being planned for the Volusia County School Board’s Nov. 5 meeting.

That meeting was canceled because of security concerns

Critics included the Volusia County Republican Executive Committee, which complained the text wasn’t balanced, and residents who said the book “whitewashes” Islamic history.

The county’s Democrats lined up with the Council on American Islamic Relations to support the book.

The controversy grew heated leading up to Monday’s meeting, with CAIR accusing the book’s critics of being “book burners” – and a student at the school board meeting said removing the book would be like teaching “me and my friends to hate.”

Maybe they just wanted students to get a bigger picture. The textbook, critics said, lacked the full picture.

“This book is ridiculously biased,” a Port Orange resident said, according to the News-Journal. Another called it “vanilla history,” the paper reported.

When liberals complain about the n-word being used in “Huckleberry Finn” is it hate? Residents in Volusia County, Fla., the United States of America, turn out to air grievances about a portion of a curriculum and it’s Kristallnacht all over again?

No matter how the textbook fight turned out, when it comes to history, libs have a lot to learn.

They could start with perspective.

I have not seen the book, but if what we hear is true, it shouldn’t be a problem to find a lawyer who would sue the system for promoting a religion in violation of the First Amendment.

Or think long Thanksgiving Vacation. A mass boycott of the school system next week.. 30% – 50% drop in attendance, for a couple days would fluster the Board of Education..

Wouldn’t it be better if you read the book before making a judgment?
Or do you consider yourself so feeble minded that reading a book will completely brainwash you just as you fear children would be brainwashed by reading it?
So you let others do your thinking for you?

    Joe Saunders:
We implore you to do some actual research on your subject matter before inserting your biased commentary. I would expect much better journalism from someone claiming to be a 25-year newspaper veteran and staff writer. We are now wondering what job title you held for 25 years working for the newspaper.

This article reads like a conservative rag piece: light on facts, heavy on unfounded fluff & stuff against Islam.

What “whitewashing” are you and others babbling about? If you speak of wars involving Muslims, please speak of the defensive wars necessary for the survival of persecuted Muslims and the survival of Islam as a religion, itself.

Conservatives always omit that important factor when they claim to speak of the history of Islam. I believe that omission is intentional. Some say it’s due to ignorance. Which is it?

    • http://grumpyelder.com/ Grumpy

Would that be the spreading of Islam by the sword- the invasion of Spain when the Muslims started running low on Christians to massacre in North Africa.. the attempt to take France by the sword — The invasion of Europe from the East that butchered Christian Turkey, Croatia, Bosnia and Serbia that was finally stopped at the Gates of Vienna.. Maybe the 500 years of Slave raids against Christian Europe, sometimes disappearing entire towns as far North as Iceland..

Or maybe we should get into how peaceful Islam was spread into formerly Hindu Lands, and the butchering that occurred.

When the Europeans got into the African Slave trade, they didn’t have to conduct slave raids, the Muslims already had the slaves packaged and ready to market- It more profitable than marching the slaves north to the markets in North Africa and Saudi Arabia, as they’d been doing for 400 years, before the Europeans got involved, and still do today..

The Crusades were largely an attempt to keep the blood thirsty Arabs out of Europe

      • Deuce Prez

        Neither, Grumpy.

The so-called “spreading of Islam by the sword” goes completely against the teachings of Islam.

Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things.
        - Holy Qur’an Sura 2, ayat 256 (Yusef Ali)

Now, can you point that (your statements) out in the Holy Qur’an? At no point did I proclaim that Arabs were “holier than thou“. Yes….the Arabs had their role in the slave trade (as did some Africans), but that had nothing to do with Islam.

Speaking of the Crusades…..you omitted the fact that, while retaliating against the Muslims, the crusaders murdered Christians and Jews who were living peacefully amongst the Muslim men, women and children. They killed everyone not a crusader!

Yet, we differentiate that from Christianity. Jesus/Isa (AS) didn’t teach that behavior.

        • http://grumpyelder.com/ Grumpy

Everything I said is historical fact- The butchering and enslavement of Christians by Muslims continues to this day. Just look at Syria, Egypt, Nigeria and Sudan for openers..

The last Synagogue in Afghanistan has now been destroyed. There are Imans here in the United States openly preaching the destruction of all things Christian and Governing the United States by Sharia..

There are sections of London and Paris where Christian’s born and raised in those cities don’t dare walk down the street..

If these teaching are contrary to the Qu’ran I suggest you take your ministry to the people who behead infants and rape six year old girls.. Remind them what the Qu ran says,,

It would be much easier for you to make your point if other Muslims weren’t making headlines daily

          • Deuce Prez

            Grumpy:

You’re so much into the character, you’ve failed to read my comments, in their entirety!

At no point in time did I claim that everyone claiming to follow the religion of Islam is on-point with its teachings, just as you, if you’re truthful, will also admit that not everyone who claims to follow the religions of Christianity and Judaism are on-point with their teachings.

You take the typical stance that Muslims should ignore the non-Muslims who constantly and relentlessly lie against Islam while solely focusing our efforts to address those within the Islamic community who misinterpret Islam with their political and/or cultural agendas. It’s AS IF we cannot do both….simultaneously!

If you know of imams in the US that are speaking non-Islamically, please name them for me. I’d be more than eager to hear them or read such verbiage for myself and address them….with the quickness!

Afghanistan….London (UK), Syria, Egypt, Nigeria and Sudan. As a US citizen, I cannot address or affect the laws or happenings in countries where I am not a native. I am a 5+ generational American citizen (and that 5 or more generations of American citizenship on my maternal and paternal sides). Talk to me about what’s happening here, in the U.S. …. as you claimed about these yet-to-be-named imams. And, thanks to American slavery, I have no clue of my ancestry before we arrived on these shores nor my original language. I may be stuck (for now) with English, but I’m not stuck with practicing the majority religion in the US.

By the way, when the synagogue was vandalized in Olney, MD last year, the first non-Jewish organization that spoke out against such nonsense was CAIR!! Yeah….that so-called “arm of the Muslims brotherhood” (what a load of CRAP that talk is)!!

So, you do acknowledge that the actions you speak of go contrary to the teaching of Islam….!! That at least one step on the path to the truth….!

            Congratulations!!

          • http://grumpyelder.com/ Grumpy

As I said take your ministry to the butchers- When American’s quit seeing the headlines, when Europeans can again walk the streets of their cities.. When their daughters aren’t taken and raped by those who believe it’s a Muslim Right.. When I quit hearing about Imans demanding we surrender America to Sharia- then we can talk again.

When this country was established- Islam was considered a religion of terror.. We had to blow up part of Tripoli to keep Islamic pirates from attacking out shipping

so…not only do you call all non muslims “ilk,” which pretty well sums up where up where you stand on most of humanity. but you’re very convoluted and contradictive which defines the dogma of islam- “we’re peaceful let me cut off your head!” ” i give you my word, you’re not muslim? i don’t have to keep it!” and you prove mine and everybody’s point once again by saying and i qoute “but that also involves leading with the corresponding left or right cross….!
;)” so you lead with punches!!?? how very peaceful you are! please continue your futile attempts to convince us how wonderful a cult islam is. its hilarious! seriously, considering Satanism (worshiping the devil) is less harmful and has more equal and human rights says a lot about it!!

Duece, so were Jews, Christians, Buddhists, Deists, and about every other religion. The Africans who were Muslim were (for the most part) forcibly converted by Arab slave traders for their lives, and then sold into slavery by them. Nice guys, eh? People behaving badly make the headlines everyday, regardless of their alleged religious, political, ethnic or racial affiliation.

As I’ve stated far more than once here, Islam has nothing to do with bad behavior and, in fact, encourages us to righteously compete to have good behavior.

          • Jan McMullen

There sure are A LOT of muslim people behaving BADLY!

          • Deuce Prez

I know you cannot place a number on that, but I’d have to guesstimate that percentage to be less than 0.00001%.

The same can truthfully be said of adherents of other religions.

          • Don Foss

Bull crud ! Poll after poll, year after year, confirm that a majority of Muslims (even in the UK) support terrorist groups like Hamas, Hezbollah, and even al Qaeda. Polls confirm that a sizable number of Muslims admired Osama bin Laden and supported him. Polls confirm that a large percentage of Muslims living in Western countries believe they should have sharia law for themselves (protected by it from prosecution from the laws of the countries they live in), and Muslims in the UK want sharia for all of Britain – the majority do.

When read Sura 5, verse 60 (where Allah tells Muslims that Jews are the actual genetic descendants of apes and pigs), the vast majority of Muslims agree with the statement, and the president of Egypt even referred to “the children of Isreal, the sons of apes and pigs” in a public speech.

The problem is their religion, its sick, twisted, violent and hateful ideology and doctrine, and the teaching of its violent and hate-filled prophet.

          • Don Foss

No, when fathers kill their daughters for offending Allah, it is because of Islam. When women who’ve simply been accused of out-of-marriage sex are stoned to death, it is because of Islam. When men chop off the heads of apostates while reciting the Qur’an, it is because of Islam. When men blow themselves up in a coffee shop full of Jews, or in a mall, or shoot up a bunch of Hindus in India, or fly planes into the buildings of the infidel in New York, or set off bombs in Australian bars, and set off bombs in international hotels full of Europeans, or blow up bus loads of Christian Londoners, or trainloads of Spaniard Catholics, of line up Buddhists in southern Thailand and chop their heads off, and literally thousands of other evil deeds, nearly all of them while screaming “Alluha Akbar!” it IS because of Islam, Duece. It’s all about Islamic doctrine and ideology, where it is the most religious people in Islam who are the most dangerous.

          • Don Foss

But hey, Duece, if you’re one of the majority of cowardly Muslims who won’t follow your religion to the T, we thank you. The world thanks you. Keep practicing the pre-Hijrah Islam and ignore the rest. Good boy. Really.

          • Criximar

And there is a key overlooked detail. Individuals interpreting it in a radicalized manner. Can I now suggest that Christianity be wiped from the map becauce obviously every christian must be an abortion clinic bombing, mass murdering psychopath? Really, it’s a minority that is radicalized. A very small minority but you hear far more about them. Wasn’t all that much attention sadly to the immediate aftermath of Benghazi, when the people of Libya turned on the militia groups after one claimed responsibility for the attack.

          • Don Foss

The Qur’an and Ahadeeth are both didactic. There are no grey areas of interpretation. They are mostly commands. Read them before you want to try acting like you know what you’re talking about.

And your one semester of sophomore debate did you know good. You need to first make sense.

        • Eman Richard Hannum

Very true. I like your points and we need to remember in the USA that “Arab” and “Islam” do not go hand in hand. In fact, Islam and its laws, forbid Arab cultures to continue the majority of bad behavior or governments that they had while in tribal groups. So good job, it is sad how much people are arguing about history on this page but know nothing about it. 0_o

          • Riffak Ledifni

What do you mean Arabs and Islam don’t go hand in hand? Islam is an Arab cult of death.

          • Deuce Prez

            Basically, you’re stating —

            1) that you’re unaware that there are Arab Christians and Arab Jews.
            2) that a vast majority of Muslims are non-Arab.
            3) you know nothing about Islam, being the 3rd of the 3 Abrahamic faiths or that is does not praise death as your flawed conclusion suggests.

Dud….You’ve got a lot of learning to do….and you’re starting at Square ZERO!!

        • Don Foss

Duece the Muslim says, “The so-called “spreading of Islam by the sword” goes completely against the teachings of Islam.”Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things.”
          - Holy Qur’an Sura 2, ayat 256 (Yusef Ali)”

This is a perfect example of taqiyya, where Muslims are encouraged to lie to the kuffar for any number of reasons, including making him believe that Islam comes in peace.

Unfortunately for Muslims, many infidel know Islamic scripture and doctrine, so here I point out Sura 2, verse 106, which Duece very well knows but will not let you know: It says, “Whatever communications We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, We bring one better than it or like it. Do you not know that Allah has power over all things?” This is Muhammad’s way of striking off all the peaceful messages he tried to spread the first 13 years of his prophethood when he never had over 200 followers and usually only around 30-40. He was the Meccan resident nutjob whom others – the Jews especially (and they would pay dearly for it much later) – teased and mocked and made fun of. It got so bad for Mo that he fled to Medina. Then something happened along the way! (Read further):

          • Don Foss

While he and his followers substained themselves by raiding caravans, Mo began to gather a virtual army who agrred to help him plunder for a share of the riches and for booty – literally – of sex slaves of captured girls (some not even teenagers yet – what do you expect from a man who marries a 6 year old?). So as that army grew, and more and more beduins joined, converting to Islam, and believed that fighting the unbelievers (“…enemies of Allah”) would get them to the highest paradise replete with a never ending orgy with beautiful dark-eyed virgins, Muhammad conveniently whips out verse 2:106, allowing him to backtrack on what peaceful things he did before and now get revenge on all those unbelievers who mocked him and teased him for years. He becomes a warlord, a pimp, a pedophile, and a murderer.

So, Duece, you know damned ell that the “No compulsion…2 verse you whipped out is “Naskh”/abrogated/canceled/null and void and instead we have verse 9:5, “9:5 When the sacred months are over slay the idolaters wherever you find them. Arrest them, besiege them, and lie in ambush everywhere for them.” And 9:29, “Fight those who do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day and who do not consider unlawful what Allah and His Messenger have made unlawful and who do not adopt the religion of truth from those who were given the Scripture – [fight] until they give the jizyah willingly while they are humbled.” There are over 100 verses calling for jihad as these two verses do, which over-ride 2:256 due to Naskh. Duece knows this, but is practicing taqiyya with you. Call his bullshit.

        • Don Foss

Duece says, “Speaking of the Crusades…..you omitted the fact that, while retaliating against the Muslims, the crusaders murdered Christians and Jews who were living peacefully amongst the Muslim men, women and children. They killed everyone not a crusader!”

The big difference is that jihad and spreading Islam by the sword is sunnah – living by the examples and teachings of Muhammad. It IS part of Islamic doctrine and teachings. Muhammad and Allah approve. The Crusaders who killed indiscriminately and Inquisitioners were going against Christian doctrine and against the teachings of Christ. Jesus would be ashamed and disgusted and rather than reach the highest levels of paradise like jihadis do, those “Christians” would would have to pay the piper, so to speak, for their transgressions.

      • Eman Richard Hannum

wait, most north Africans weren’t Christians to begin with. This is why it is important for more history to be taught to our children. I was always outraged that history books glossed over much of outside groups; historians should do a better job of portraying the facts about wars and offering up information not writing to please Republican or Democratic parents who see their kids’ books. The history books are not meant to prove who was right or wrong, but what really happened in the wars and developing cultures or religions over time. But really, North Africa was not majority Christians; you are probably only referring to Egypt and since most Americans barely get history class let alone Geography anymore, most were probably surprised to just learn Egypt is not in the Middle East. If you are concerned about only who is wrong or right, please leave the history books to those of us who care about the truth and actually know one thing about history at all.

Who really cares about you demons anyway?

        • Don Foss

It is simply a fundamentalist who follows pre-Hijrah Islam with his Muslim brothers and sisters, and post-Hijrah Islam with unbelievers. He believes the entire Qur’an, which makes him one dangerous dude if he gets up enough balls to reach for the highest rungs of the paradise that Muhammad promised him for going all out for Islam.

      MERRY CHRISTMAS

  • Diane Young Christian

One of the saddest things about this article is that, being educated in today’s public schools, most would not know what “Kristallnacht” was. As Americans, we need to stand up and stop the islamification of our public schools, and the accepted habit of re-writing history. Political correctness has weakened our culture. Common core needs to be expunged!

    • Deuce Prez

      Diane:

You may be correct. Can you define the word “Kristallnacht” and how it applies here?

But if you think this article gives you the details, you’re really missing out….!

Missing from this article is the number of pages in that particular section that discusses Islam. Also omitted from this article (and the argument of those opposing the book) is the number of pages in the earlier portions of the book where other religions are discussed.

Prayerfully, Joe Saunder will update his article with the other side of the story so you and others will catch up to the facts.

Define, if you can by “[i]slamification of our public schools”. Apparently, you did not learn that basic fact from public education that a proper noun should be capitalized. So your manufactured word would be properly spelled “Islamification with a capital “I”; not a lower case “i”.

      • Norm Kostuck, Jr.

How petty—who gives a hoot if it is capitalized or not; the context of what was being said was there whether it was a capital I or a lower case i—-geesh.

        • Deuce Prez

          Norm:

Read the entire post; not just the closing.

And I’m still awaiting the definition of said made-up, undefined word….

          • Deuce Prez

Would they hire to do what I’m doing….simply telling the truth w/o any spin?

Let me know where I can apply….! Even in an improving economy, one can never earn too much money!

            Thanks!

          • Don Foss

Define “Naskh,” Duece, and how it is applied in Islam.

      • Robert Crim

You are “assuming” others are gathering information strictly from this one article. We all know what the word “ASSUME” applies….

Personally, islamification is correctly used as it is intended to be used as a verb, not a proper noun. Re-read the sentence in context.

        • Deuce Prez

Nope. No assumptions here. I even asked what other articles have been read by you naysayers.

This article above excludes the actual facts and is the real source of spin that has you all so dizzy.

I, in contrast, have read several articles on this topic and they point out the fact that other religions are discussed in earlier chapters in this history book. I’ve already stated this, btw….

  • Chris

if my child had this in their books I would cut it out and replace it with the Bible and pay for the book my self!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Deuce Prez

      That’s fair.

And if your child fails to answer questions correctly on this portion of their assignments and quizzes or tests, you’ll take full responsibility, right??

      • princesssong

IF IT IS A RELIGION, then it needs NOT TO BE IN THE BOOKS, since you take Christian portions out!!

        • Deuce Prez

This is an incomplete and biased article. The book does discuss other religions.

Also, I had nothing to do with this book….!!

      • proudwhite

No, we strap a BOMB on him like you COWARD musSLIMES do with your mistakes.

        • Deuce Prez

No. I try to correct mistakes or, in the case of the bigoted replies I’m reading here, major errors.

It’s just sad that when presented with the facts, you and your ilk prefer to hold fast to the debunked lies you’ve been spewing.

    • princesssong

alright Chris, since we are not a muslim country, I am not sure why they need to know anything about it

      • Deuce Prez

We’re not a Christian country either! This is a secular country and its founding principles are found in many religions.

Islam has contributed to modern civilization that we use everyday. That’s why they are discussing it….and the other religions discussed earlier in the book!!

Oh….and to eliminate your ignorance, it’s Sikhs that wear turbans; not Muslims.

That’s the reason the Islamaphobic ignoramus attacked that Sikh temple last year….thinking he was attacking Muslims.

Another sign that Islamaphobia hurts more than just the Muslim community. I shake my head when I think of the high level and high number of ignoramuses there are in this country. Get out of your BB-sized comfort zone and learn about something outside of that!

          • proudwhite

          • princesssong

That’s funny, when I was in Dubai, alot of Muslims had that bonnet on there head..

          • Don Foss

Did you notice in Dubai that all the workers are not from Dubai? Kinda like Kuwait, where they just sit home and collect money and watch American movies all day while (when they’re not shopping) and 63% of the people in their country – only 37% of Kuwait is populated by Kuwaitis, and numbers similar in Dubai – do all the work, from serving you at the restaurants to running the banks to doing the construction to managing the hotels to retailing clerks and cashiers to taxi drivers and and every single other job that receives a pay-check. Kuwaitis and Dubai-ites are the laziest, most spoiled rotten and arrogant people on the planet.

          • princesssong

A lot were from other countries, yes, but there was Muslim’s working too.. That guy that screamed in my face was in the dress and the bonnet.. And the men held hands.. The Muslim men were in the Mall’s eating at Starbucks together, while the women shopped.. I hear that was to keep them happy. But they get treated badly inside the home.. I am just thankful, My guy isn’t like that.. its sad to see how they treat the females..

          • Don Foss

Muslims from other countries. Poor Indonesian Muslimas come these oil-rich countries as “domestic help” thinking that fellow Muslims will treat them well. Nope. Nothing but slaves. And if you’re a Filipina Catholic or Sri Lankan Buddhist or Hindi coming here to work as domestic help…God help you. Your countries should not allow you to come here only to be abused, have your passports taken, and if you’re pretty…forget it. Raped, used as sex slaves, and passed around by the men in the family could be your lot. The Kuwait desert is liittered with shallow unmarked graves of these women who ended up pregnant and had to be done away with, or those who fought back. They are conveniently “run-away” or found “hanged by suicide,” or “drowned,” or “fallen from a balcony.” Everyone knows what has really happened, but law enforcement never investigates the rich Arabs and just takes their word for what has happened.

Some of the Muslim men fare no better. Pakistanis do the construction in Kuwait, thrown up several floors in sandals on shakey wooden scaffolds, no helmet, in crazy heat. So many accidents, but hey…they’re not Arabs so who cares? Palestinian drivers/chauffeurs regularly beaten, even in public, for being late or not running through a red light like they’ve been ordered to, or Moroccan and Tunisian waiters verbally abused and having cigarette butts flicked at them in restaurants for being unable to immediately serve a wealthy Arab or messing up an order…and the children learn this behavior from their horrible parents, whom nobody ever questions or fights back against.

Not all rich Arabs are like this. The ones who’ve actually spent time in the West tend to be more civilized. But as an expat you see this behavior from Arabs constantly, almost daily. Horrible people, generally.

          • Don Foss

I’ve also lived in Pakistan and Egypt. The Pakistanis, despite their reputation, are actually (generally) wonderful people, hard working, a strong work ethic, and sometimes even go over-the-top in making Westerners (especially Americans) feel welcomed and comfortable. I took that post with hesitation and reservations, and ended up loving it and having great experiences (in Lahore, but traveled all over the country). Cairo pretty much the same, before the revolution. Nice people, never a threat, never rude or showing an obvious dislike for Westerners. Very comfortable there. But Arabs? By far the worst people I have ever met in my extensive and many years of working overseas.

          • princesssong

Yes, and I don’t think I would go back..
I met a guy in the states, who had a Muslim friend. The friend’s wife had two twin girls, (he want back for the birth) when he saw 2 GIRL’S, he took them and threw them in the River.. Now how sad is that??

          • Jerry

Don’t like it? If you think we are so stupid than why are you all coming here sand ape.

          • Deuce Prez

            Interesting.

Than” or “then“. Based on the context of your failed attempt to belittle me, I’m left to choose the latter is what you should have typed.

But a “sand ape” (or any ape, for that matter) wouldn’t have such intelligence to know the difference. So how did you make such a blunder? How would someone feigning intelligence, such as yourself, confuse the two completely different words?

Hmmm….sand ape. I don’t know of many apes native to the Washington, DC metro area. I know that the Oriole is MD’s state bird. Oh….I see. It’s your ignorance of Islam and Muslims kicking-in. It’s your assumption that all Muslims originate from some sandy region.

Question: from what region of Planet Earth did Judaism and Christianity originate?

          • Don Foss

Duece asks,”Question: from what region of Planet Earth did Judaism and Christianity originate?”

I ask Duece…how did Muslims come to be the dominate population in the Middle East? (Missionary work is the wrong answer.)

          • Jerry

And you have avoided answering any of my comments. The point was why do you Mucklims come here if we are so stupid? You sub humans invent almost nothing. You cannot produce autos, planes or electronics. You are satans people whether you admit it or not. I have already stopped patronizing your convenient stores, etc.
Actually I am complimented when you apes and pigs call me stupid.

            I ….we await your reply….

          • Robert Crim

You can think First Amendment ALL you want. You can also argue blindly that America is not a Christian nation.

It’s difficult to contend that any faith has even come close to the amount of influence that Christianity has had over our Country. When you walk into the Founding depths this GREAT and propsperous nation, you can see the long, rich history of Christianity, like it or not. From the VERY first establishments, which were created by the Christain church, such as orphanages to the so called Ivy League colleges of today, which were used to educate Christian clergymen. The Christian church established the first hospitals, welfare systems and refugee services. Even attending church was considered a cultural value at one time.

So to say this nation is not founded on Christian values is not only false, it is total ignorance of our GREAT American history and how our Country was truly founded and guided then and NOW.

          • Deuce Prez

            RIF

At no point did I state or imply that most of this nation’s founder were Christians. Note that I stated most. Not all.

            Blindly? HA!!

Here’s my usual challenge (yet to be taken and passed to historical revisionists:

Can you name 7….hell 2 Christian-only principles upon which the USA was founded?

Btw, “hospitals, welfare systems and refugee services” are Islamic principles. So, you’re starting from Square ZERO searching for those principles.

        • innessa111

“Islam has contributed to modern civilization that we use everyday”? Would you name one contribution please? Arab world was a great world once, but since Islam was introduced all the progress stopped. How many Muslim Nobel Prize winners are there? I’m not talking about “Piece” winners, we all know who that one was and what he did, but in science? Medicine? Math? In real fields – none! Zero! But there are endless killings of Jews, Christians and all the other nonbelievers… How many young people lost their lives – many by killing-suicedes and millions as the result of those killings. The only people to send their young children to fight and to kill themselves. The only people to celebrate the death. The only people who kill their wives, daughters, sisters for disobeying the MAN. I can continue… but everybody knows all the facts about this “peaceful” religion. You like the way you live? FINE. Just go back to your miserable land and leave us alone.

          • Deuce Prez

Nobel prize is the be all, end all for you all, isn’t it?

Let’s not do a tit-for-tat. How many Jews & Christians are American Muslims killing in the US, you say….? As I told the last person, tell me about things happening where I can have some affect: In the USA.

I know not of what you babble when you stated “‘Piece winners’“.

            And it’s “s-u-i-c-i-d-e-s“….not how you….misspelled it!!

Sure. Send the descendent of a former slave back to…..to…. HEY!! From which country did I originate anyway…..??!! I don’t know and you certainly don’t!! You don’t know anything about me or my way of like. Hell….you haven’t even demonstrated that you know anything about the research-able religion, Islam….based on your comments!

I don’t approve of oppressed people sending or allowing their children to commit suicide. That’s clearly non-Islamic. However, if we both live in the USA, neither of us knows, by personal experience, what it’s like to be oppressed by an occupying force, like the Palestinians know, for example.

Go live with them for a year or 2….as a Palestinian. You wouldn’t like how the zionists treat you….even if you claim to be a Christian. You’d be in for a surprise…..!

          • HongryHawg

Calling it a lie doesn’t make it one. I’ve NEVER heard a muslim condemn the murderous acts of their cronies. Your spastic comments prove that you are a freak. People who lie are the ones who yell the loudest. Your screams are attempts to whitewash the crimes against civilization committed in the name of religion. Your ideology is not a religion. It is an excuse to wreak havoc on god-fearing people who don’t agree with your sick philosophy. You can go back to sucking on your pagan god, akbar. Nobody here is reading your ranting lies without laughing. You’re a turdhead that SHOULD wrap his ugly head in towel instead of trying to fit in with civilized folks. Palestinians don’t live in “occupied” territories. There’s no historic nation called Palestinians – they are people rejected by the governments of their own countries because of their terroristic attitudes – 25.000 or more killed one night by King Hussein? Does it ring the bell? No one wants these killers to come back to their countries of origin. Israel in just 65 years of existence turned the land of sand into the land of flowers and prosperity. People of so many nationalities and religious believes live there in piece, if we won’t take into consideration a numerous attacks by muslim bandits killing innocent men, women and children. What good EVER Palestinian did to their people, children and/or other, non-muslim people around the world? Name one good thing attributed to Palestinians? Muslim is the religion of piece? You are a cancer that should be removed from the face of Earth. Wherever you come, you bring terror and dirt and hate… Wherever you come, you bring a destruction and a horror.

          • HongryHawg

It’s effect. Not affect. How does it feel to be corrected in a language for which you criticize others? Bet you feel stupid, huh? Now you see what we all see; stupid using outrageous opposition to cover ignorance. Perfect liberalism tactic, and now, as you’ve shown again, perfect muslim tactic.

        • princesssong

I never knew of Muslims until they Trashed Twin Towers. We never studied it. and the more I see and hear from people in real life regarding it, the less I want to know about them..

          • Deuce Prez

            Newsflash, princess…..

Those terrorists of 9/11/01 infamy died in those same attacks. Don’t forget about the field in PA the the Pentagon in NoVA. We lost Americans of many faiths that ill-fated day.

And none of that was based on Islam. In fact….haven’t you heard? Islam STRONGLY CONDEMNS the killing of innocent people (i.e. those killed in the 9/11/01 tragedy).

No one learned a darned thing about Islam from the un-Islamic misdeeds of the terrorists! Now….there were/are some who actually studied Islam as a direct result of Islam being the topic of discussion and referenced Islamic sources and learned about Islam and how it and terrorism were and are totally incompatible. Others, took hold of Islamaphobic sources (machinations devised to deceive the less-informed and defame Islam and Muslims) and became sock-puppets of paid Islamaphobes. Thus, they created a niche audience who continue, to this day, to finance their every lie against Islam.

You and my former/clipped fingernails have the same knowledge of Islam, in a nutshell.

          • Robert Crim

            WHO are thse others?

“When I went to military basic training @ Ft. Benning in 1981, I met a dude from Boise, ID. He told us that while he’s seen Black men on TV and in printed material, he’s never seen one in person.”

            VERIFY… I do not believe it….

          • Deuce Prez

Others. I call them “free-lance Islamaphobes“. While the paid Islamaphobes hawk their lies for a price (fronted as “Islamic ex-perts” with “anti-terrorist trainings” and such), the free-lance Islamaphobes lie against Islam just to be lying. They either believe the lies to be true or they (like their paid counterparts) know that what they’ve spewing against Islam is a lie.

In which of the the above outlines descriptions do you fit?

I can only assume that you’ve never served in the US military.

Today the Islamic world is bankrupt of ideas or contributions toward mankind and progress. They give nothing. They even needed the West to find and extract the oil they did nothing to deserve. The Islamic world is at the bottom of every indicator in the world that measures its modernity, human rights, education, scientific research, inventions, et al. When people speak of “Islam’s Golden Age,” they speak of a time when the caliphs rode the backs of their conquered dhimmis and stole the ideas of those they conquered through jihad – ideas already there when the jihadis vanquished them. The caliphs, naturally, took credit for them. Look at Egypt as an example. They were at the forefront of technology, science, mathematics and astrology. Then came the Islamic horde with their horses and swords and jihadis. What has happened to Egypt? Islam happened. It was Islam that stunted it and killed off their collective inquiring minds and natural curiosities and initiative. Islam has done that to every people it has conquered. It kills in more ways than one.

          • Deuce Prez

            Replace “Islamic” with “Christo“.

Since you’re confusing religion with culture….

          • Criximar

Downfall of Egypt actually began with Rome. When they were conquered and subjugated as a province and no longer had autonomous leaders. But nope, somehow Islam.

          • Don Foss

I’m sure you have a lot of admiration for the Islamic world, Dope. Enjoy the love.

    • Robert Crim

I would suggest parents do just that. It is $75.00 WELL spent!! (you have until graduation to pay it) Several counties in the state who have had this issue have torn the pages out of the text book, not only forcing the schools to replace the book, (and parents were then REALLY involved) but also forcing the school to teach something else or skip that lesson all together.

      • Deuce Prez

The teachers should teach the material in the class setting and then quiz and test the students on said required instruction. If they are so foolish enough to destroy the material so that they don’t have it for study away from that class’ environment, then it’s their loss.

A, F or whatever grade in between. If they work hard for it, that’s the grade they worked to receive.

  • Chris

remember this when it is time for vote for a NEW school board!

    • Doug

Right. This is Central Florida not the Panhandle and I applaud the temerity of school board members to ignore largely uninformed protestors. They have these elections all the time. Vote them out or remove your kids. There are loads of Christian schools right in the immediate area.

Really, Deuce? Of course, in your “educated” opinion, America was discovered by some muslim or maybe… by your great teacher who didn’t know how to read, or write, but knew perfectly well how to rape a young girl…?

      • Deuce Prez

No. The so-called “American Indian” (so misnomered because your boy, Columbus, was seeking a westerly route to India….and got lost) was here LONG before Europe was divided into countries!

Which great teacher? I have had many…..

Oh. I see. You’re attempting to slander Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) with today’s mores and nearly 2,000 years difference and 8, 000 miles away.

Tell me, what’s the age of consent for marriage in the U.S.? What year was that established?

        • proudwhite

Oh..you are a musSLIME Pedophile child molesting worshiper. That explains your BS. Now, ALL praise allisapig.

          • Doug

Pedophile child molester is a useless redundancy.

          • Deuce Prez

            Particularly when neither applies.

    • Nthis

I don’t know about you but i never learned that Christopher Columbus discovered the Americas…

Why do you even bother putting your ignorance into this.

      • Deuce Prez

Here’s the thing: I’ve YET to interject any ignorance into this dialog.

Would you mind sharing what you learned about Chrissy Columbus, since you claim to not have learned what the school system in Prince George’s Co. taught in the 70s and 80s….?

        • Nthis

I don’t know what Prince George’s county is or where it is…and, concerning the 1970s, i wasn’t even born yet. I think you’re confusing yourself by posting so much.

Anyways, what i did learn about Christopher Columbus in elementary and middle school was that he was looking for a different route to Asia but ended up in the Caribbean. I never was taught he discovered the Americas nor did i ever learn that he was considered a hero. What i did learn though is that he was a part of the early colonization of the Americas. The rest, i’ve learned online.

I mentioned your ‘ignorance’ because you automatically believed that everyone was taught the same thing about CC growing up…

It will more than likely take a federal lawsuit to remove the offending information. What is interesting is that atheist groups and the ACLU aren’t all over this violation of separation of church and state and whatever else the atheist groups can conjure up.

    • Deuce Prez

That’s because the class discusses pertinent contributions of each religion in history. The practices of the faith aren’t promoted, from complete articles I’ve read on this topic.

This article is typical of a conservative’s blog (i.e. partitial, biased and misleading information).

      • OldmanRick

As I understand the issue, no other religion was presented within the book except Islam.

        • Deuce Prez

How many other articles have you read on this topic?

As I initially stated, this article above is the most incomplete, fact-omitting article that I’ve read.

          • OldmanRick

Just Google: Islamic history remains in Florida textbook. You will see more articles on this subject.

          • Robert Crim

The article is incomplete as well as your statement. Conservative blogs, (as you label them) have nothing to do with the discussion of this subject. Biased and inaccurate educational teachings are the topic at hand. The discussion of “religion” does exist in the chapters contained in the History book. The 5 pilars of islam is hypothesized in the book. There are no 10 Commandments discussed. If you are as fair as you “claim” to be and want to “only” learn about each other, why not teach a balanced approach and allow ALL children the truth so they can make an informed decision without coercion.

          • Deuce Prez

No. I’m not labeling anything. Conservative have blogs…..don’t they?

I cannot say what the book teaches, exactly….on any religion.

Like one of the the naysayers has admitted, I, too, have not read said history book. I don’t even live in that region, let alone that state.

I’m all for the other religions being taught. That part of your statement is the nicest thing anyone opposed to the book has stated to me in this thread!

You stated: “The 5 pilars of islam is hypothesized in the book.” What do you mean? Have you read the chapter?

          • Robert Crim

I find it interesting that you’ve commented on something you haven’t read, not “directly” involved in, or even in that region. Am I to assume you are out of Country from that statement?

To answer your question, have I read the chapters in the history book, yes, I have. I have read the entire history book. As an informed parent, that is what you are to do. How can anyone know what is being taught to their children if they do not read the material? I am NOT alone either. There an MANY of us who read EVERYTHING and are working together.

  • FrancesH

All I needed to learn about Islam i learned on 9/11.

    • Deuce Prez

I find it amazing when sock-puppets parrot that lie….er, line.

While we were being attacked by terrorists, you and other cloned sock puppets started studying about Islam? You obviously grabbed the wrong books that had nothing to do with Islam, “Lies Against Islam“, maybe?

There are almost as many fact-free books written against Islam by non-Islamic, non-scholars as there are books written telling the truth about Islam written by Islamic and non-Islamic scholars.

      • FrancesH

Let’s talk about islam, how about the 5 year old who was raped by her father and then killed by her father because she was no longer a virgin. His punishment; a $500 fine. If you think they are so f’ing great, why don’t you move to one of their countries.

        • Deuce Prez

          That’s terrible!!

I’m more opposed to that than you are!! What kind of non-Islamic law would allow him to get away with rape and murder of his daughter?

You won’t find me defending such nonsense here….or anywhere else!

    • Don Foss

Read the Qur’an and Hadiths. Believe me, it gets even worse.
