Obama administration suggests Marines wear $8 million ‘girly’ hats

The Department of Defense is suggesting that the U.S. Marine Corps to replace their iconic hats with a new “unisex” style that some service members describe as “girly.”

“We don’t even have enough funding to buy bullets, and the DOD is pushing to spend $8 million on covers that look like women’s hats!” one senior Marine source told the New York Post. “The Marines deserve better. It makes them look ridiculous.”

The idea is to update the almost century-old design to something appropriate for both men and women, which the Post reported was pursuant to an Obama administration directive.

The Post reported.

[The hats] have been dubbed the “Dan Daly” hat, after a sergeant from Long Island who won the Medal of Honor in World War I.

But some Marines love the old hat, which has been in use since 1922 and think the new hat is a glorified “porter’s cap.”

“The Dan Daly cap looks too French, and the last people we want to associate our Marines with would be the French military,” one Marine commented on the website.

A preliminary poll of the Marine uniform advisory board found most members in agreement with such comments.

“The group members did not like the appearance of the Dan Daly cap on the male Marine,” The Post reported.

Five years ago, then-presidential candidate Barack Obama talked about “fundamentally transforming the United States of America.” If anyone thought that wouldn’t apply to the military, he was dead wrong. The president said it himself — it’s “my military,” and he can apparently dress its members any way he likes.
