The stenographer who launched into a biblical rant on the House floor Wednesday night explained her actions to a Fox News producer.
Chad Pergram, a Fox News senior producer for Capitol Hill, released an email he received from stenographer Dianne Reidy, which was posted on Greta Van Susteren’s “Gretawire” blog Thursday:
Karrah Kaplan spoke with the husband of House stenographer Dianne Reidy last night. There’s an emailed statement here from Dan Reidy.
First, from Dianne:
“For the past 2 and 1/2 weeks, the Holy Spirit has been waking me up in the middle of the night and preparing me (through my reluctance and doubt) to deliver a message in the House Chamber. That is what I did last night.”
Her husband Dan says, “My wife is a sweet, level-headed wonderful woman of God. I am proud of her.”

Toward the end of the House vote to end the partial government shutdown Wednesday evening, Reidy reportedly grabbed a microphone and shouted, “He will not be mocked,” “The greatest deception here is this is not one nation under God! It never was!” “You cannot serve two masters!” and “A house divided must fall!”
Reidy was removed from the House floor and taken to a hospital where she was evaluated and released by a psychologist, her husband told The New York Post on Thursday.
Dan Reidy, a former associate pastor and self-described Pentecostal Christian, told the Post his wife was unable to sleep for the past few weeks believing “God was preparing her for this vote last night, because this was kind of the culmination of everything.”
