Former Johns Hopkins pediatric neurosurgeon Ben Carson addressed the Values Voter Summit on Friday, comparing Obamacare to slavery.
“Obamacare is really, I think, the worst thing that has happened in this nation since slavery,” Carson said. “It is slavery, in a way, because it is making all of us subservient to the government.”
Carson said that the legislation was never about health care, it was about control. That’s why, he said, when the administration took office, it put everything it had into getting it passed.
“Vladimir Lenin, one of the fathers of socialism, knew that socialized medicine is the keystone to the establishment of a socialist state,” Carson said.
The outspoken Carson gained national attention after delivering a speech at the National Prayer Breakfast in February criticizing Obamacare, with President Obama, seated less than 10 feet away.
Carson recently joined the Fox News network as a contributor, making his debut earlier this week on “The Kelly File.”
