In the midst of a federal government shutdown, the Obama administration has destroyed an entire line of stamps commemorating Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move!” program. The reason? The stamps depict kids having fun, but they’re engaged in unsafe activities or not wearing protective gear.
The government is swiftly turning our nation’s youth into a generation of wusses, whether it’s prohibiting “finger guns” (it’s called pointing) or removing the balls and bats from the playground. This is just the latest example.
Postal blog reported:
With the Just Move! stamp issuance the U.S. Postal Service hoped to raise awareness about the importance of physical activity in achieving a healthy lifestyle. However, according to Linns Stamp News, the USPS will be destroying the entire press run after receiving concerns from the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition over alleged “unsafe” acts depicted on three of the stamps (cannonball dive, skateboarding without kneepads and a headstand without a helmet). (There’s also a batter without a batting helmet, a girl balancing on a slippery rock, and a soccer player without kneepads or shin pads.)
An unsafe “cannon ball dive” and “a headstand without a helmet”? Whoever heard of such a thing?
It didn’t take long before folks on the Twitterverse came up with their own ideas for “Let’s Move!” stamps. Here are just a few:

On a serious note, one glance at the stamps and the first impression is of kids having fun. That’s if anyone actually takes the time to closely examine the stamps. Most people don’t. They put them on the letter and drop the whole thing in the mail.
If we enclose them in bubble wrap, we get an entirely different picture — kids walking around encased in their own personal prisons.
