Even as events surrounding the closing of the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C., blew up in their face, President Obama and his supporters seem bound and determined to ensure the public feels the maximum effects of the ongoing government shutdown.
A tweet from the Twitter account @BarackObama was posted on Thursday that seems to almost celebrate the fact that the Statue of Liberty has been closed as a result of the government shutdown.
The tweet assigns blame for the shutdown to “tea party extremists,” who rally around the cause of liberty — an irony apparently too delicious to resist.

The account profile says it “is run by Organizing for Action staff,” before adding that tweets from the president — Obama occasionally tweets from the account — are signed -bo.
Organizing for Action is the successor of Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign and of Organizing for America.
The great thing about Twitter is the immediate feedback. A few family friendly examples from some folks that can expect a call from the IRS soon:

Did Obama seriously tweet that it was “Tea Party extremists” who caused this shutdown? Is he crazy? Wait, I know that answer. — divadoll123 (@divadoll123) October 4, 2013
