Liberal pundit Bob Beckel looked directly into the camera Monday and delivered a personal challenge to moderate American Muslims, telling them to speak out against the violence Islamic extremists are directing against the West.
Fox News’ “The Five” was reporting about the al-Qaida-backed al-Shabab attack at the Westgate Mall in Nairobi, Kenya.
After reporting that the terrorists “quizzed the victims on the name of Mohammed’s mom as criteria for being spared — so far, 16 have flunked,” co-host Greg Gutfeld said, “It’s hazardous to your health to travel while being Christian, or Hindu, or anything else non-Muslim.”
Beckel let loose.
“You moderate Muslims out there, I know I’ve been on this thing for a long time,” he said, “but the time has come for you to stand up and say something.”
He then faced the camera.
“I repeat what I said before,” Beckel said. “No Muslim students coming here with visas. No more mosques being build here until you stand up and denounce what’s happened in the name of your prophet. It is not what your prophet meant.”
Referring to the criteria used by the terrorists, he said, “I don’t know what his mother’s name is, and I don’t care!”
He then delivered his final demand of American Muslims.
“The time has come for Muslims in this country and for other people around the world to stand up and be counted,” Beckel said. “If you can’t, you’re cowards.”
