Professor’s intimidating, hate-filled tirade to class: Republicans ‘raped this country’

William S. PennA Michigan State University creative writing professor was secretly recorded engaging in a little creative writing of his own on the opening day of class. He criticized Mitt and Ann Romney and ranted against “old cheap Republicans” who “raped” the country.

After Prof. William S. Penn called out a student who appeared to disagree with him during the 8-minute tirade, the professor added that Republicans want to prevent “black people” from voting, as reported by Campus Reform.

“If you go to the Republican convention in Florida, you see all of the old Republicans with the dead skin cells washing off them,” said Penn. “They are cheap. They don’t want to pay taxes because they have already raped this country and gotten everything out of it they possibly could.”

He then brought the notion of free higher education into the mix.

“They don’t want to pay for your tuition because who are you? Well, to me you are somebody,” he continued.

The professor then mocked a student who appeared to disagree with his jaundiced view of GOP politics.

“You can frown if you want,” said Penn, indicating a student sitting near the front. “You look like you are frowning. Are you frowning?”

Penn followed up by launching into a recitation of his views of voter-ID laws. Campus Reform reported him saying:

“This country still is full of closet racists,” he said. “What do you think is going on in South Carolina and North Carolina. Voter suppression. Its about getting black people not to vote. Why? Because black people tend to vote Democratic.”

“Why would would Republicans want to do it?” he asked. “Because Republicans are not a majority in this country anymore. They are a bunch of dead white people. Or dying white people.”

Perhaps he isn’t aware that the only African-American U.S. senator is from South Carolina — and he’s a Republican. Could Professor Penn be any relation to Sean Penn?

Campus Reform reported that university officials are looking into the matter.

“At MSU it is important the classroom environment is conducive to a free exchange of ideas and is respectful of the opinions of others,” Kent Cassella,an MSU spokesman wrote.
