Senior at State Dept.: If Congress says ‘no’ to Syria, Obama will strike anyway

Even though President Obama delayed his golf outing Saturday to announce that he will solicit authorization from Congress before launching a military attack on Syria, there are reports out of Washington that this is but a formality.

In a move that only adds to the utter confusion that defines the president’s foreign policy, a senior State Department official tells Fox News that Obama’s decision to take military action in Syria still stands, and will indeed be carried out, regardless of whether Congress votes next week to approve the use of such force.

Chief Washington correspondent James Rosen reported that this official said Obama’s decision to seek a congressional vote was a surprise to members of the National Security Council, but insisted the request for Congress to vote did not supplant the president’s earlier decision to use force in Syria, only delayed its implementation.

“That’s going to happen, anyway,” the source told Rosen, adding that that was why the president, in his Rose Garden remarks, was careful to establish that he believes he has the authority to launch such strikes without congressional authorization.

Why would “a senior State Department official be so forthcoming?

There were suggestions that Secretary of State Kerry “lost” to the chairman of the Joint chiefs of Staff in the interagency process and this was a way to refute this claim, according to Fox News.

“Absolutely untrue,” the Kerry aide said, adding that everything Kerry said in his dramatic remarks on Friday was after “fully consulting with the White House.”

Sounds like business as usual in the Obama administration.

Now I know I am an “intellectually challenged radical”; and, my opinion is of little significance to anyone but me and my loyal pup (sometimes I’m not sure about her);but, wouldn’t it be wise if things like this and the qualifications of someone to be our President be cleared up beyond any reasonable doubt? I know we haven’t been around too long as a nation, but shouldn’t this all be as clear as possible by now? Then again, maybe folks don’t really want it to be! Pardon me for asking!

I have come to the continued realization that Barack Obama has some deep rooted psychological problems in that when he was in his formative years, nobody around him ever told him no. We all know that he is arrogant and narcissistic but I think this is additional. Think about it. Nothing is ever his fault. He feels that is totally above the law and the Constitution. He has never taken “no” for an answer. His vaunted United Nations and the Hague World Court have the means and authority to try to punish Syria or the Rebels for the chemical attacks, not us. If President Obama violates Congressional authority he will be impeached.

Remember, he did not have an American Primary School Education..He was taught in Muslim Schools as an Indonesian Citizen. He is totally unfamiliar with American History or Patriotism..He never ever said the Pledge of Allegiance in his formative years. His grandparents were communist. You will find yourself agreeing when you recall his attitude and disrespect since he became President

He attended two undergrad colleges as a foreign student. His April 27, 2012 whitehouse.gov birth certificate .pdf was a careless forgery. His only valid Certification of Live Birth was filed under Haw Stat Rev 338-5, lacking any witness signature from a licensed birthing facility. His father was not a U.S. citizen . . .

The question you have to ask is what about the military? Would they obey an order that DIRECTLY contravenes the lawful authority of the Congress? Their oath is the Constitution, NOT the president.

If the military executes an order to wage war against Syria, a war that has been refused by Congress then there is no hope for America, we will have crossed the Rubicon into a lawless totalitarianism.

Obama learned his lesson well from Frank Marshall Davis…the Constitution and Congress are just speedbumps on the road to Communism in the United States.

A Cat Scan of Obuma would show no brain wave activity! A chest x-ray would show a heart as black as outer space. The Anti-Christ lives!

SHUT YOUR MOUTH, YOU UNSCRUPULOUS BASTARD, OBAMA RUN THIS SH*T AND GOING TO KEEP RUNNING THIS SH*T

      • laurachatfield

I suppose you would rather have Obama be a dictator that answers to no one instead of a president who is only there because ( unfortunately by people like you) he was elected in to office (not to mention the cheating and overcast ballots) He does not have the authority to “Run this sh*t” as you put it. Go learn about the Constitution and the country you live in. Then if you don’t like how it’s SUPPOSED to be run, go live in China.

Okay just going to throw this out here, and let me know what you think. Prosecutors should be forced to prosecute politicians and bankers if they commit treason with a mandatory sentence of 100 years in total isolation. no books pictures no possessions at all or human contact what so ever, you would be housed in a 10 by 4 sound proof concret cell, with no windows blankets or pillows you would never leave your cell. all medical care would happen in the cell you would be given 2 bland meals a day, they would be nutritious, and you would get the best medical help for longevity. you don’t want them checking out early. I no under the constitution this would be considered cruel and unusual punishment but not like we never amended the constitution before. Oh and murderers should get the same fate. I have no pity for treasonous politicians or murderers. So what do ya think good idea or what?

My thought is that the President never intended to attack Syria. If he did, he had had two years to do it. However, in needing to do something, he had drawn the “Red Line” and was hoping that Assad wouldn’t use the Chemical weapons. Even when small scale use was reported, he did nothing. Then came the incident of a larger attack . Assuming that it is the usual murderer doing the killing and feeling pressured by all kinds of sources, including Arab governments, he had to live up to the old” Red Line” promise. So…..he posed and postured, told us and the whole world about it in detailed steps, hoping that something would happen in the meantime, inspectors not finding proof, public opinion turning to supporting the attack, a miracle, something! Well it did. British Parliament struck Cameron’s request down. This brought full light to the notion that our Congress may do the same thing, that is if they are involved beyond the formalities.
So, the idea was born at the WH that Congress needs to be involved. If they vote No( most likely), the President is off the hook and if Yes, then it’s not just him doing this. He will not attack if Congress says No. He never wanted to anyway!
