Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz uttered some crazy words on her recent trip to Atlanta Tuesday where she is seemingly keeping tabs on the upcoming U.S. Senate race in Georgia.
Several Republican candidates are challenging Democrat Michelle Nunn for the Senate seat in 2014.
Wasserman Schultz called Georgia’s GOP Senate candidates “contestants in the beauty pageant of extremism,” the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
Rich words coming from her.
According to the paper, her criticism of the Republican candidates included, “Rep. Paul Broun’s thoughts on evolution, Rep. Phil Gingrey’s clumsy defense of Todd ‘Legitimate Rape’ Akin and Karen Handel’s role in the Susan G. Komen for the Cure spat with Planned Parenthood.”
She didn’t stop there.
When Wasserman Schultz was asked which GOP candidate “posed the most threat to Michelle Nunn’s “chances for the Senate seat,” the AJC reported she said:
Who knows? Right now, unfortunately for America, you have a Republican Party that has been strangled by the tea party. I expect that in their primary they will busily try to out-extreme each other.
