New documentary claims U.S. tax dollars funding UN-run ‘Camp Jihad’

A United Nations-affiliated youth camp, located in the Gaza strip, teaches youngsters to hate Jews, glorify suicide bombers and support holy war to promote “Right of Return.” For this reason, it’s informally known as “Camp Jihad.” It’s also partially funded by U.S. tax dollars through the U.N.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency supports the summer camps in which kids as young as five are indoctrinated to believe that Israelis are usurpers and Israel is rightfully theirs, according to a new and controversial documentary, “Camp Jihad: Inside UNRWA Summer Camp Season 2013,” as reported by Fox News.

“The children learn the names of many villages – not just the names of big cities like Jerusalem” says Amina Hinawi, identified in the documentary as a UNRWA camp director in Gaza. “This way every child will be motivated to return to their village. UNRWA finances this summer camp. I’m very, very appreciative of UNRWA because the children of Palestine and Gaza need this.”

The United States contributed more than $232 million to UNRWA in 2012, as compared to the European Commission’s $204 million, and the U.K.’s $68 million.

Although the camp includes the usual games and arts and crafts, the message that Israel must be taken back by force is also part of the daily curriculum.

When asked who the Jews are in the film, a young girl replies, “They are a gang of Infidels and Christians. They don’t like Allah and do not worship Allah. They hate us,” she adds.

“For those who are older than me, weapons will accelerate the Right of Return,” says another little girl.

“When we die as martyrs, we go up to heaven,” adds another.

Westerners have become numb to hearing such talk from jihadists — from adolescents, it’s chilling.

And there’s no question where they’re getting the message. A camp counselor is depicted in the film telling the children that they will have a role in the overthrow of Israel.

“With God’s help and our own strength, we will wage war,” she says. “And with education and jihad, we will return.”

In an exercise in semantics, UNRWA spokesman Christopher Gunness claims hate is not being taught at the camps.

“We teach human rights and conflict resolution and have done so since the 2003 academic year,” Gunness told Fox News.

Guiness also claimed that the documentary footage was shot at non-UNRWA camps and added that those he interviewed were not affiliated with the U.N.

However, the filmmaker, David Bedein, bureau chief of the Center for Near East Policy Research, stands by every frame in the film, and said it “appears to show teachers and counselors at UNRWA schools indoctrinating Palestinian children,” according to Fox.

“We went into the UNRWA schools and camps” says Bedein. “There are people who identify themselves very clearly in the film as being teachers, administrators, counselors, and social workers. They all say ‘We work for UNRWA.’”
