Obama: I didn’t visit Kenya, ‘I was trying to spread the wealth’

At a townhall meeting in South Africa, President Obama was asked why he hasn’t kept his word on visiting Kenya during his presidency.

“One of the things you learn as president is, not only do people want you to fulfill your promises, but they want you to fulfill your promises yesterday,” Obama said.

The first family’s recent trip to Africa didn’t include a visit to his father’s homeland, which is why the young Kenyan woman called Obama out on his broken promise.

Obama basically implied there just isn’t enough of him to go around: “I was trying to spread the wealth a little bit in terms of my visit,” he said.

However, he told the crowd he has three and a half years left to keep his word about touring Kenya during his presidency.
