Protests percolating: South Africa may greet Obama with raw sewage

PHO-10Jan01-196496Just as many people here at the sending end question the wisdom of the first family’s $100 million African summer vacation, it now appears there may be some at the receiving end who are equally displeased. Protesters dumped raw sewage at South Africa’s Cape Town International Airport. Welcome to Africa, Mr. President.

The protesters, presumably associated with South Africa’s ruling African National Congress party, dumped the monstrous malodorous mess at the airport Tuesday. President Obama and his family aren’t scheduled to arrive in South Africa until Friday, and he plans to speak in Cape Town Sunday, according to Breitbart News.

Although the dumping was linked to something else altogether — the “toilet wars” protesting the city’s sanitation policy — one can’t help but think that it may have been a “twofer” in light of other recent events in that country surrounding the president’s visit.

Recently, the Johannesburg, South African Muslim Lawyers Association called for the president’s arrest, charging him with genocide and other war crimes related to his administration’s drone policy.

Joining the cause of the Muslim Lawyers Association, the Congress of South African Trade Unions has planned demonstrations against what they call Obama’s imperialist and militaristic foreign policy.

The Congress of South African Trade Unions, by the way, is affiliated with the “poop-dumping” African National Congress. It’s a small world, isn’t it?

Breitbart News also notes:

Several left-wing academics are vowing to boycott Obama’s a ceremony at the University of Johannesburg in which Obama is to receive an honorary doctorate. The centrist Democratic Alliance, meanwhile, has come under fire for attempting to bestow an award on the President and First Lady Michelle Obama.

All things considered, the first family’s extravaganza may turn out to be more like one of Chevy Chase’s vacation disasters. The president could very well wish he’d saved the $100 million to re-open the White House tours so that other families could enjoy their vacations.
