This fall, CNN will bring back one of its most successful political debate shows of all time: “Crossfire.”

Following the same format of the original “Crossfire,” which aired from 1982-2005, there will be “four new hosts – two on the left, and two on the right,” CNN reported.

Viewers were given a sneak peak of the new hosts interacting and discussing the news of the day – the Supreme Court’s rulings on same-sex marriage and Wendy Davis’ filibuster on the Texas abortion bill – during Wednesday’s “Piers Morgan Live.”

For the right, both former House Speaker and 2012 presidential candidate Newt Gingrich and conservative columnist S.E. Cupp, will team up against their liberal, left counterparts.

Former Obama adviser Van Jones and former Obama deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter will represent the left.

CNN took us down memory-lane with a reminder of the lineup of “Crossfire” hosts over the many years:

Debuting two years after the founding of CNN, “Crossfire” was originally hosted by conservative Pat Buchanan and liberal Tom Braden. Later its hosts included Robert Novak, Tucker Carlson, James Carville, Paul Begala and Bill Press. Also joining the list of notable co-hosts were former New Hampshire Gov, John Sununu, Michael Kinsley, Republican strategist Mary Matalin, and 1984 Democratic vice presidential nominee Geraldine Ferraro. The nation’s top political figures were guests on the show, as were a slate of preeminent entertainers, sports stars and business leaders.

I am a fan of the great debater Gingrich and I will certainly tune in to CNN this fall to watch the new “Crossfire.”
