The Obama administration invited not only into the country, but into the White House, a man with very close ties to the radical Egyptian cleric said to be the spiritual leader of the Muslim Brotherhood who has been banned from entering the UK or the U.S.

The Investigative Project on Terrorism released an explosive report Wednesday describing a June 13 meeting with Sheik Abdullah Bin Bayyah and incredulously, members of Obama’s National Security Council.

“Bin Bayyah is vice president of the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS), a group founded by and headed by” Yusuf Qaradawi, who supports Hamas, who vocally calls for Israel’s destruction and who advocates suicide bombings to kill Jews and Americans, the report said.

Bin Bayyah had been pressuring the Obama administration to give help to the Syrian rebels, but it was the White House who extended the invitation for this June 13 meeting, Bin Bayyah said. Later the same day, the administration announced plans to help arm the Syrian rebels.

Bin Bayyah wrote about his meeting on his website, which the Investigative Project on Terrorism reported:

“We asked for this meeting to learn from you and we need to be looking for new mechanisms to communicate with you and the Association of Muslim Scholars (another name used for the IUMS),” Gayle Smith, senior director of the National Security Council, reportedly said.

Smith also thanked Bin Bayyah for “his efforts to bring more understanding amongst humanity” during the meeting, the Bin Bayyah account said.

Interestingly, Bin Bayyah originaly said on his website that National Security Adviser Tom Donilon was in attendence at the meeting along with “Rashad Hussain, the U.S. special envoy to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and “White House spokeswoman Jennifer Palmieri.”

“But the account was later changed to delete the reference to Donilon’s presence at the meeting,” the article said.

Steve Emerson, executive director of the Investigative Project on Terrorism, was so outraged and baffled by Bin Bayyah’s invitation to the White House, he’s called on Congress to “immediately” investigate the meeting, the UK’s Daily Mail reported.

“This is the equivalent of inviting Al Qaeda to the White House,” he told the Daily Mail.

According to the Daily Mail, Emerson added:

That the Obama Administration would invite to the United States a radical Muslim cleric whose organization supports terrorism and whose leaders have issued fatwas calling for the killing of Americans and Jews is beyond comprehension.

In my 30 years of covering terrorism, I have never in my life been so appalled and outraged at what can only be called criminal behavior by this administration.
