Heartfelt congratulations to the young men and women of the Dimensional Harmony Choir of Boynton Beach High School who won the National Choral Competition Monday in Orlando, Fla.

The 50 teens, along with choir director Sterling Frederick, wowed the judges and proved they were the “best of the best” in the nation by winning both top awards, “Best in Category” and “Best All-Around.”

The Delray Beach Republican Club sponsored a special performance by the choir on April 20th to help the students raise money for their trip to the national competition. The club raised over $2,000 for these award-winning students, and club members were thrilled to learn Dimensional Harmony Choir won the national championship.

The Delray Beach Republican Club congratulated the choir, saying:

These dedicated and hard-working kids are a great tribute to our larger community, and deserve our greatest support. They serve as wonderful role models for all our youth. The kids are poised and truly amazing and exciting to hear and see perform. We’re thrilled they did so well and won.

The following statement was issued by Dimensional Harmony Choir on Tuesday:

WE WON IT ALL!!!

At the National Choral Competition in Orlando, FL, on April 28, 2013, the Dimensional Harmony Choir of Boynton Beach High School won two First Place trophies: Best in Category and Best All-Around. With the choir’s tremendous success over the past several years in receiving numerous superior ratings, the students earned a special and highly coveted invitation to this nationwide competition among the “best of the best.” One judge exclaimed to award-winning director Sterling Frederick, “You killed the competition!” Indeed, the choir performed flawlessly and with exquisite tone, outdoing all other entrants from around the country.

Dimensional Harmony’s winning such high honors is especially rewarding since a special “send off,” fund-raising performance was sponsored by the Delray Beach Republican Club on April 20th in Delray, raising over $2,000 for the choir. “These dedicated and hard-working kids are a great tribute to our larger community, and deserve our greatest support,” proclaimed members of the DBR Club. “They serve as wonderful role models for all our youth. The kids are poised and truly amazing and exciting to hear and see perform. We’re thrilled they did so well and won.”

Not only are parents, friends, and the community inspired by Dimensional Harmony, but judges and professors of musical programs, as well. One renowned choral director at a well known college music school in Florida told director Frederick, “I want your kids!” He is prepared to offer future DH students scholarships. Director Frederick pointed out that while his choir at Boynton Beach High School may be just the beginning of important careers; it is certainly not the end! The students’ experiences in performing and knowledge gained provide a solid foundation for their college education and future pursuits.

Director Frederick’s unique arrangements have been the focus in his work with Dimensional Harmony for over 12 years. He is very thankful for all the community support he and the choir have received: “Wherever there’s a lot of hard work involved, it’s wonderful to get recognized for our efforts; our superior rating was ‘icing on the cake’ to a year of first-place accomplishments. And much of our success is due to the support we receive.”

The win at Nationals was the last competition for this year’s choir. The seniors will say good-bye at their graduation performance, and then director Frederick begins working with the new members who have successfully auditioned.

CONGRATULATIONS Dimensional Harmony! We can’t wait to see you in action next year!!
