There was a big “oops” by Reuters Thursday evening, officially adding itself to the list of “epic fail” media reporting this week.

At 5:41 pm Thursday, Reuters reported the death of the very much alive 82-year old George Soros.

The Reuters article is clearly the prepared future obituary many media outlets have on famous people:

(Reuters) – George Soros, who died XXX at age XXX, was a predatory and hugely successful financier and investor, who argued paradoxically for years against the same sort of free-wheeling capitalism that made him billions.

The Washington Post reported Reuters sent a correction via Twitter saying  the article was published in error and withdrawn “as soon as it appeared.”

According to the Post:

Days after 80-year-old conservative mega-financier Bob Perry died, the Reuters news agency erroneously posted an obituary for George Soros, his liberal counterpart.
