Michigan farmer fights to display anti-Obama signs on own property

A southwest Michigan cattle farmer is fighting a zoning ordinance over a couple of trailer-sized political signs on his property.

Vern Verduin defended his right to display the political messages on two signs mounted on his own property in Gaines Township, about 10 miles south of Grand Rapids, according to WOOD-TV. The signs, on the side of semi-tractor-trailers, say, “Obama’s Mission Accomplished: 8% unemployment. 16 trillion debt.” and “Marxism/Socialism (equals) Poverty & Hunger.”

A hearing was held in the 63rd District Court on Friday. Judge Steven Servaas is expected to render an opinion within the next 10 days.
