Rush Limbaugh: ‘This has got the old bulls upset’

Are we witnessing the beginnings of a changing of the guard in the Republican Party?

Radio talk show giant Rush Limbaugh responded to a caller’s comments Friday that Sens. John McCain and Lindsey Graham owe fellow Republican Sen. Rand Paul an apology for their opposition to his epic filibuster last week, saying, “This incident, the Rand Paul filibuster, has turned things upside down in Washington.”

In criticizing Paul’s efforts to force the Obama administration to acknowledge it did not have the constitutional right to kill Americans with drone strikes on U.S. soil, McCain said, “It’s always the wacko birds on right and left that get the media megaphone.”

“This has got the old bulls upset,” Limbaugh said.

While reminding his listeners that McCain and Graham were having dinner with President Obama while Paul was making his stand on the U.S. Senate floor, Limbaugh asked, “Who are they siding with?”

He went on to say of McCain and Graham: “They go out, they dine with the architect of this disaster [sequestration], who is intentionally inflicting pain on the American people, via his sequester … in listening to their consultants, think they’re making great gains by appearing bipartisan here, which is not what the people that vote for them want.”

Commenting on the old guard neo-con Republicans, Limbaugh said there “is a fear among McCain, Lindsey Graham and others who favor an interventionist foreign policy” that Paul is embracing an “isolationist” position similar to his father.

“That’s why they’re calling Rand Paul a wacko,” Limbaugh said, “because that’s what they thought of Ron Paul.”

But it’s possible “El Rushbo” was much closer to the real reason the “old bulls” are upset when he said, “There has been such an upside down turning of the power structure … there has been a major, major shift here … inside the power structure in Washington, inside the Republican Party.”

Your old road is
Rapidly agin’
Please get out of the new one
If you can’t lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin’.
