Liberal’s letter to the editor goes viral for stupidity

A letter to the editor published in a coastal North Carolina newspaper demonstrates that fascination with strict gun control and hatred for the U.S. Constitution aren’t limited to large cities — they can pop up anywhere.

The letter, submitted to the Carteret County News-Times, has gone viral. Written on Jan. 17 and posted Jan. 29, it eventually found its way onto the Fox News Facebook page, where it received over 4,000 comments, according to the News-Times.

The letter criticizes conservatives for holding onto the belief that the Constitution confers a right to bear arms without government permission, insisting that the streets of Chicago — which has strict gun control — are much safer than the streets of Morehead City, N.C.

Throughout the letter, the unnamed writer is critical of the Constitution and calls for its change – taking specific exception to the “natural born citizen” requirement to become president, a mandate the writer believes discriminates against those born by C-section.

Here’s the letter in all its misguided entirety:

Beaufort, N.C.

Jan. 17, 2013

TO THE EDITOR:

Republicans and “so-called” conservatives are at it again. They are claiming that the Constitution gives people the right to have guns without the permission of the government. If that were true, then how could New York and Chicago have laws against it?

We Democrats are sick and tired of Republicans constantly using the Constitution to cover up their true plans, which are to make us all afraid of everyone else. Our great president came from a civilized part of the country where there is strict gun control, and he is only trying to bring the benefits of that more modern way of living to the rest of us. I don’t know the exact statistics, but I’m quite certain that Chicago is a lot safer that Morehead City, when it comes to gun violence.

But do Republicans and conservatives listen to the voice of reason? No, of course not. All they want to do is whine and complain about how gun control and wealth redistribution violate the Constitution, as if the Constitution were all that great, anyway. There are a lot of things that need to be changed about the Constitution, I’d say, and President Obama needs to change it.

The Republicans are just trying to stand in the way, because the president is black. They even dared to question whether he was born in this country. I think all this demonstrates that the Constitution needs to be amended when it comes to the qualifications for being president. Right now, it says that a person has to be 35 years old and be a natural born citizen. Well, that is obviously unfair because there are a great many otherwise qualified people who cannot run for president because their mothers had to have a C-section.  But because the Constitution was written a hundred years ago, nobody even thought of the discrimination that would result from a doctor having to deliver a baby in this unnatural way. Now that we Democrats are in control of the government, that’s just one more thing we should change in our drive to make life fair.

Please withhold my name because I don’t want to get crank calls.

But the writer apparently feels that crank letters are alright.

I really hope I never run into the person who wrote this letter, would never want anyone to know I met someone so ignorant and confused, someone who never reads a news paper or even listens to main stream propaganda they even report the hundreds of killings every year in Chicago so this moron never listens to any news organization in this country, makes me wonder if they are not only ignorant beyond belief but are deaf and blind also. I would hate to know that I was that un informed about what is going on in my own country, may God help the ignorance of this person I am sure they are not dumb just ignorant and in today's time anyone who is that ignorant of their surroundings has to live in a shell or a dumpster.

I can bet this person is another one of this countries failures. Sad I can also bet he/she is black. If this was really written by someone they dropped out of school before 3rd grade, Constitution 100 years old, the Republicans want guns so everyone is afraid of everyone. Mr Obama is the great divider . Now as far as the C-Section this has to be a total idiot or a made up letter.

I laughed so hard I literally fell out of my chair and I have tears in my eyes. I cannot believe an adult so stupid that he/she would think natural born citzen means by natural birth only. Seriously. But what is so sad is this person represents the voting block of Obama voters.

Because we are so heavily populated by the likes of this person that for now it will make it darn near impossible for us to recover our country. How far are they going to push us? How far.

I would hope that anyone who is proud to be a Conservative would not want to begin a competition for finding the dumbest letter to the editor in small papers across the country – or in the comments sections of articles published on the net. Seriously. It would be no contest at all.
