“No matter how we reform health care, we will keep this promise: If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor. Period. If you like your health care plan, you will be able to keep your health care plan. Period. No one will take it away. No matter what.”

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office reported bad news Tuesday for those who like and want to retain their employer-based health insurance plan. With its report, the agency revealed the rest of the lie of the president’s 2009 promise.

Three months after Obama made that promise, a survey conducted by Investor’s Business Daily refuted the first half of it — that patients woulds be able to keep their doctor. The results indicated that as many of 45 percent of physicians would at least consider leaving the profession once Obamacare is fully implemented.

Even absent a mass exodus, the American Medical Association revealed in April 2010 that “the nation likely will see a shortage of about 160,000 physicians by 2025 — leaving too few to keep up with the flood of newly insured patients seeking care for long-neglected health problems,” according to amednews.com.

Well, we may lose our favorite doctor, but we’ll at least get to keep our coverage, right? Not according to the CBO budget outlook report released Tuesday.

“In 2022, by CBO and JCT’s estimate, 7 million fewer people will have employment-based health insurance as a result of the Affordable Care Act,” the report states.

“This is up from an estimate of 4 million last August, mostly reflecting the effects of tax changes,” the Washington Examiner’s Philip Klein reported.
