Video: FBI director on Obama’s ‘assassinating Americans’ policy

This week, a secret Justice Department “white paper” was released that justified the killing of American citizens by drone strikes overseas.

When this issue first surfaced almost a year ago, FBI Director Robert Mueller told Congress he would have to go back and check with the Department of Justice as to whether Attorney General Eric Holder‘s criteria for the targeted killing of Americans also applied to Americans inside U.S. borders, according to Fox News.

When the issue of assassination arose, Mueller was attending a hearing on his agency’s budget and was a bit blindsided by the question about drone attacks on citizens.

“I have to go back. Uh, I’m not certain whether that was addressed or not,” Mueller said when asked by Rep. Tom Graves, R-Ga., about a distinction between domestic and foreign targeting. Graves followed up by asking whether “from a historical perspective,” the federal government has “the ability to kill a U.S. citizen on United States soil or just overseas.”

“I’m going to defer that to others in the Department of Justice,” Mueller replied.

“Make an illegal lane change on the 101 freeway and a drone will just shoot you out of the sky and bury you,” Fox News anchor Shepard Smith said to his guest, Judge Andrew Napolitano.
