Texas Gov. Rick Perry ‘disgusted’ by left’s use of massacred little children

Anti-gun-sculpture-at-the-United-NationsTexas Gov. Rick Perry released the following statement regarding President Obama’s executive actions announced Wednesday:

“The Vice President’s committee was appointed in response to the tragedy at Newtown, but very few of his recommendations have anything to do with what happened there.

“Guns require a finger to pull the trigger. The sad young man who did that in Newtown was clearly haunted by demons and no gun law could have saved the children in Sandy Hook Elementary from his terror.

“There is evil prowling in the world – it shows up in our movies, video games and online fascinations, and finds its way into vulnerable hearts and minds. As a free people, let us choose what kind of people we will be. Laws, the only redoubt of secularism, will not suffice. Let us all return to our places of worship and pray for help. Above all, let us pray for our children.

“In fact, the piling on by the political left, and their cohorts in the media, to use the massacre of little children to advance a pre-existing political agenda that would not have saved those children, disgusts me, personally. The second amendment to the Constitution is a basic right of free people and cannot be nor will it be abridged by the executive power of this or any other president.”

Meanwhile, as reported by the Tampa Bay Times, Gov. Rick Scott voiced his support for a broad review of Florida’s controversial gun laws by state lawmakers Wednesday, saying the state’s vital tourist economy depends on visitors being able to “feel safe” amidst an increasingly well-armed population.

“We have a legislative session coming up,” Scott said before today’s announcement from the White House. “I think the right thing to do is go back and look at our laws.”

I sure would be nice for Governor Scott to revisit his conservative roots. This is totally unacceptable. Evidently the plan is for him to keep moving left. If that is the plan all the jobs in the world will not save him. Of course John Morgan may have an opening in late 2014.

Gov Scott, leave our gun laws alone, there just fine they way they are.

I think this governor has it right don't look at the gun look at the person behind it. What has happen to our people in the last 50 years. We have take discipline out of the homes and schools and we have taken our basic beliefs away so some would not be offended. What do we really expect from the people when you have a society that has no consequences to their actions. I wish we would take a step back and just look are we better off now with all of our thoughts on right and wrong or were we better off 50 years ago when things ran a little slower.

We as responsible gun owner need to understand that if the guns were in a safe then the mother would not have been shot with her own gun and maybe the kids and adults would have still been alive. And this is one thing that wasn't mention that it should have a requirement that guns should be held in a safe place that only the owner can get to.

Governor Scott. I feel very safe in Florida with our gun laws. No change is needed unless you want to allow everyone to pack. LOL No changes needed.

  • Carol

Governor Scott, I moved my business from Michigan because I was not able to carry and was stabbed by a prostitute to Florida BECAUSE of your gun laws. I feel safe here now. If you change the laws, I'm moving my business to Texas.

Gov. Scott needs to tread lightly on Gun Control, unless he wants to be a 1 term Gov!! Agreeing with Obama on anything is not the way to go, just ask Crist.

Governor – you may be joining Charlie Crist after the next election – you have already leaned too far left for my taste. So you may want to call Morgan & Morgan to see if they will be hiring another idiot Liberal.
