Mr. President, several times you referred the "law abiding gun owners" and the "criminals who have guns". May I make one small suggestion to you? Think about those two phrases just for a moment. The "law abiding gun owners" will follow the law, whereas the "criminals who have guns" haven't followed the law up until now, hence the title "criminal". What makes you think in any sense of the word, that they will purchase a gun from a reputable gun dealer, or abide by background checks? Remember the title "criminal"? This usually means they will use this gun in the course of committing a crime. They are not going to suddenly start abiding by the law, just because you'd like them to. Gun control is NOT the problem. Guns are not the problem. I have an even better idea. I've been told that our country is about to go off of a "fiscal cliff". That being the case, I really think it would be a really good idea to get to work on that, and not try to deflect the limelight from your poor performance there, to an issue that isn't even the problem. I will close with one last thought. I am equally concerned you would put someone like Biden in charge of what you describe as a "complex" problem. I'm not sure he is up to the challenge, but that is entirely your call.
