In a fitting tribute to the lives lost in the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in Newtown, Connecticut, Saturday Night Live substituted the New York City Children’s Chorus sweetly singing, “Silent Night” for its traditional opening comedy monologue.
The closing refrain, “Sleep in heavenly peace” took on a special significance.
