BizPac Review sails into Port Everglades on USS Dallas submarine

Houdeshell-USS-DallasThe USS Dallas rolled out the red carpet for BizPac Review in a special prelude to the upcoming Fleet Week events taking place in Fort Lauderdale, April 25-May 1. More than 1,000 men and women of the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard are in town to celebrate and educate the community on the talents and duties of our maritime soldiers.

An invitation to stay overnight on a nuclear submarine, tour the boat, experience the submersion and re-surfacing, and interact with the officers and crew, provided myself, and colleague Starla Brown, with a once in a lifetime experience that we will not forget.

Brown and I will share some written and video stories about our experiences that took us from Port Canaveral to Port Everglades, exclusive to BPR, throughout the week. I would like to thank Lt. Cmdr. Jonathan Blyth for coordinating the media embed.

The following is an introduction to the boat’s Captain Cmdr. Jack Houdeshell, who just took command of the vessel a few months ago and plans to retire the boat in three years, when it has completed its lifespan.

Commanding Officer, Captain Jack Houdeshell
